Re: Classic Iron Man!!!..NOW UP FOR PRE-ORDER!!!
Aesthetics aside, I would think that the proper evolution of the Iron Man armor would be away from the more complex design of the extremis armor in favor of a more streamlined design. I don't think it would be visually interesting though.
Only 'cause you put a roofie in my wine, fool.
You know, there are more than a few flaws with the original. Overall, though, Sideshow's comiquette is the best representation to be found of the Extremis armor.
But you bring up an interesting point, albeit in an erroneously critical way. It's meant to look like a snake body, insomuch as a snake's skeletal structure provided the inspiration for the flexible construction of the torso. (Most likely, it was some other skeletal structure, say, that of a man, but we're all vertebrates in the end, yeah? )
That's the genius behind Granov's design: The organic qualities of the armor which resemble their corresponding biological equivalents. In the front of the torso, we can see areas which resemble abdominal and pectoral muscles. The helmet itself resembles a skull, for crying out loud!
It's a bit of design genius, really. Much more so than the classic armor, which was designed for artistic simplicity rather than realistically. As much as I've always been a fan of Iron Man, the concept of that molded, muscular armor actually being flexible really stuck in my craw. The Granov armor really drew me back into the book, to be honest.
Still, looking at my display as it stands, I can't wait to see this new version in the mix. I'm sure it will blend better than the current one.
