$10 extra does suck... exclusives already cost more as you have to buy from Sideshow (no retailer 10% discount) so adding extra cost, especially for something like this, doesn't seem very cool.

Oh well, I'll still buy so I guess its a win-win for Sideshow

Looks like the EX is going to be priced at 99.99. So if you want Rotta with Anakin its going to cost you an extra $10 bucks . I'm going to still order it
with Rotta but I do think it kinda sucks .

To hell with the naysayers . It's not like he's a tiny little com or poison dart. I think the slimy little ******* will be well worth the extra $10.

I actually do think Rotta is worth $10 (although as people have pointed out, it's actually more like $15 or $20 since you can get a discount on the regular from an AD). But it just feels like we're being nickeled and dimed for things that used to be free. Add that to the increase in base figure prices, and these are getting to be rather expensive.

I don't believe that exclusives were ever "free", though. If not mistaken, their costs were basically spread out between the regular and exclusive figures. Now it appears to be bumping up the profit margin. Nothing wrong with that except that the pricing continues to creep upwards.

But as long as they continue to sell out at whatever price, at whatever QA level, there's no reason to lower pricing / cut profit margins.

Right... Because Bespin Han's exclusive was $5 more, it totally invalidates my argument. For those of you keeping score at home, the following figures had exclusives that were priced the same as the regular (just going by a quick look at Sideshow product pages):

Yes, that's every figure except for Bespin Han. That includes ones like Mace (with Jango's head) and Asajj (with an alternate head sculpt). I realize that things can't stay the same price forever, but I don't think it's unreasonable to be a little upset about this and other price increases.

Were you just as vocal about it with Bespin Han? My point was that extra for a substantial Ex isn't something new, and it isn't a tiny little piece of plastic either. It's a nice Ex and I don't see why everyone feels the need to ^^^^^ about a small price increase to get it.

Were you just as vocal about it with Bespin Han? My point was that extra for a substantial Ex isn't something new, and it isn't a tiny little piece of plastic either. It's a nice Ex and I don't see why everyone feels the need to ^^^^^ about a small price increase to get it.

actually I mentioned that the mynock was $5 more. If you think baby hutt is twice the item the mynock is, more power to you, but to me its about the same amount of plastic as the scratching rat which was free. i personally don't see the need to ^^^^^ about people ^^^^^ing about it. its not the one time $10 that bothers, as icruise said its the knowledge that SSC is becoming a nickle and dimer. everything they do is crunching on prices. poorer qc for increases in price and now all the exclusives have been pretty lame recently and when they finally offer a half decent one its got a price attached.

and for the record, I think almost everyone at the time saw "value" in the mynock because he was HUGE and had a cool magnet feature (and it was only $5) so there was very little complaining...but this is very different as it is now $10 for a tiny item that would have been free 6 months or 1 year ago. not sure why you feel like everyone should give them a free pass like you.

I wasn't collecting when Bespin Han came out. But as I have shown, it was very much the exception to the rule at the time, while it seems that charging extra for exclusives is becoming commonplace now (not just for 12" figures, but also got PFs and others). It's not this particular case that I'm upset about, but rather the trend that it seems to indicate.

only time I will not buy an exclusive is if
A) I have no other choice ( becuase it's a long sold out item, or i missed the exclusive)

or
B) It's an exclusive like the clone troopers. I want my figure bases to match.

Funny story.
Columbus, Ga, is so hot and humid, that the Gold foil exclusive stickers simply fall off my boxes after a week.

So what about seeing the need to ^^^^^ about people ^^^^^ing about people ^^^^^ing? I'm just saying...

I don't give them a free pass. Anyone who reads most of my posts knows this, as do you. I just look at Rotta as being well worth the extra $10. You don't like it, don't cry about it and get the regular. If you do, buy it. You could stand on the corner for less than 10 minutes panhandling and get enough to cover him. If you're ^^^^^ing and moaning bout inflating prices and a $10 difference for extra product, man, you really need to quit living in the past and dump collecting.

Its actually a great Anakin figure, I think the sculpt is a good mix of the clone War animation and the real Hayden....And that little Jabba is nice too.I'd fork 10$ for it if I was into SW.
