Alright, cool then. I didn't know you were unemployed and they shipped you something by mistake. But the way you told everyone you contacted your bank and had them change your account number and all just seemed....I don't know..."Douchey". Enjoy your free Cloverfield toy.

I was being reactionary. I was pretty stunned when I saw the email this morning, and that turned to indignation as the day wore on. I just knew that I couldn't have that money coming out of my account unauthorized when I'm stretched so thin to begin with, and have bills to pay- I can't afford to pay $100 for their mistake, hence the bank action. The notion of keeping it was a sort of "serves them right, the dummies" reaction.

This entire process for getting this figure has been nothing but a nightmare instigated by a bunch of DOUCHEBAGS. I, like everybody else, went through the same BS with Hasbro and got the same cancellation emails and the same reinstatement emails. I called back in October to confirm to make sure everything was kosher on my end and their CSR said it was good to go. Last week, I called again to make sure everything was still good to go and again a CSR told me my card would be charged soon and the figure would be sent in the middle of the month. Tonight, 12/2/2008, about 10:30pm CST, I get an email from Hasbro saying my order has been cancelled because I did not respond to them in the allotted time. Hello, I called twice! And I did not get any subsequent emails from them about this order since October. There was and has been plenty of money on my card to get the figure since Feburary. I never received any phone calls from them; I checked both my cell and landline phones. So, I did what tonight's email, said and re-ordered. Thank God I did that, because if I hadn't of, I probably would have had to hunt one down on ebay in the near future. After I reordered tonight, my card was charged the proper amount and hopefully I'll get a shipping notice in a few short days (at least I hope...you never know, they could have oversold). The long and short of this is, if you get a free Hasbro Cloverfield figure from Hasbro's bloody, stupid mistake, then right on brother!!! This will be the last time I order from these idiots. That's just bad customer service all around and they deserve to feel it from us consumers. It's just a toy, but at the end of the day, they made a lot of people unhappy and with word of mouth like this floating around, these schmucks probably won't have an e-commerce presence very much longer...
Rant over...

hey guys, i got my cloverfield monster toy today at work!!!!! So awesome! Here's some pics for you pic hungry peeps!

that's the box it came in... It's huge!!!

here's the top of the box with the "hasbro signature edition" logo, and director matt reeves, and producer j.j. Abrams "signatures". To all you cloverfield arg followers, the "property of u.s. Government" sticker is the same as the one on the dvd/bluray of the film.

clovey unboxed!!! He's huge folks! These pics really don't do him justice... I have a co-worker who is also a member here who agreed the quality of the figure is way higher than the provided images from the hasbro site... They need better photographers.

clovey with his interchangeable head. Inside the head there's a compartment for the 10 tiny parasites it came with... Notice his "people suckers" are hanging out!

there's a button on his back that if you press, plays the cloverfield "roar" sound. The quality of the audio is very good, and doesn't crackle or buzz. Additionally, you can press his tongue and the same sound will emit. I also really like the base he comes with. It's very sturdy heavy cardboard, and is nice and glossy!

here's a closeup of the statue of liberty head it came with, as well as the parasites. I'm slightly disappointed with the parasites only because at one point i could have sworn they were supposed to be magnetic and be able to stick to clovey... I'm not bothered by their size since they're actual size compared to clovey, and the detail is actually not bad when you get close enough to em! Sorry if they're blurry, these pics were taken with my blackberry.

collectors edition "certificate"...

so all in all, he's awesome! I'm a huge cloverfield fan though so... He's a "tiny" bit flimsy when held, and the joints seem pretty solid and stiff, but i can tell that an excessive amount of posing will lead to weak joints. As it stands (pun intended!) it's a bit tricky to get the right leg/arm pose to get him to stand correctly, and that's right out of the box.

Other than all that i love him! It's my first hasbro purchase, and due to the crappy tech support and issues, it will probably be my last... But i don't blame clovey!

awesome awesome! I want it nowwwww!

That is actually pretty cool. Much better then all the other pictures that we have been seeing from the official site and Toy fair.

PS - I think he looks WAY better with the closed mouth. Closed mouth looks more Alien. Open mouth looks more like a rat.

I eat my words, I never thought this would see the light of day!

Looks nice, still a lot like a 1/6 Manbat though!

This does look really cool.

I didn't think the air sacks would be removable with the screaming head, something that discouraged me from buying one initially.

I agree the closed mouth looks better, maybe its that in the film, when we see him really open up and roar, were usually below him with a low camea angle, but the way the mouth is that open didn't look right to me.

How did this thing get a figure?
it didn't! haha! we were just playing a prank on you to get you to post a stupid question!

gotcha!

anyway, yeah, i like the closed mouth more on it, too. that's just what i picture when i think of clovey.

How did this thing get a figure?

Funny story, his agent Hank Tillman gave me a call one day while I was having lunch with George Hamilton. He wanted to market Clovie and win him some points with kids and soccer moms so he could have his own sitcom on the WBs thursday night lineup. I pointed him in Hasbro's direction and the rest is history. Litterally, were reprinting history textbooks to include this momentus event in human history. And in the meantime we just replaced every current high school level history related class with phys ed.

How very creative, hilarious, and unnecessary at the same time!

The "air sacs" definitely don't come off... They are a bit excessively large too... They never got that big in the movie. Also, there's a picture on the bottom right in front of the display box of the monster screaming with it's mouth open and it looks nothing like the figure...

I really wish Hasbro had tried a better sculpt with that open mouth, but we're lucky enough to have a Clovey fig anyway! The monster looks so damn cool when it screams in the movie, and they kinda screwed up with that on the toy... oh well.

I'm going to keep his "calm mode" head on from now on. Besides, the only cool thing about the open mouth head is the tongue button to make him roar.

CLOSE... But I think the air sacs need to be smaller... And the eyes are important to get right too...

those air sacks are based on neville page's concept designs which are shown on the dvd extras. the figure looks EXACTLY like the designs.

edit: wonder how hard it would be to mod that head...

Hmmm, good find. I wonder if Hasbro only had those designs to go by when prototyping the figure... I bet they didn't have access to view the CG model at all...

Even though I love Page's design, I like the CG model represented in the film much more... This could be due to lighting and infrequency of his appearances though.

here's a clip that shows cg composites with the huge air sacks.
<object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="https://www.youtube.com/v/lVdhGcEHtRA&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="https://www.youtube.com/v/lVdhGcEHtRA&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>

its near the end, like 4 minutes in.

Oh man, why didn't they include that on the DVD?!

Hey, could someone who also recieved (and still has) the emails that were sent by hasbro a couple months ago, please PM me? I have a question, Thanks!

Do want! :D And did they make the tail longer? Looks like it to me...Great touch, that always bothered me with the Toyfair pics. And that display is HUGE!:horror Bloody hell, absolutely amazing!

And I wonder if the "Hasbro Signature" thing is a sign of things to come...Are they getting in on the large scale collector's market with things that can't be made in 1:6 scale, perhaps?

EDIT: So how big is this thing? I heard it's 14 inches, but is that the length of the body (minus the tail) or just how high the head is off the ground?
