Thats true about it being akin to a disaster movie, except in disaster movies the military doesn't usually fire guns and large missiles into the natural disaster and tiny natural disasters don't hunt you down in the subway and implant another natural disaster that will make your stomach explode :lol

Ha. True. How about a civil war, or zombie coyotes, or communist invasion? Dropping the military stuff entirely wouldn't alter the plot either but I get your point.

I can definitely see if you go in expecting a good version of American Godzilla you're going to be disappointed - this is not that movie.

Also I would agree that JJ is more about set-up than delivery. A beautiful woman who is a deadly espionage agent who thinks she's working for the CIA but is really working for an evil organization? Beautiful concept - now what?

Same with LOST - very cool set-up - but the follow-through doesn't quite live up to it.

It's too early to judge LOST, imho. I'll wait until we have the big picture (at the end). At worst, it's still compelling television.

And what about M:i-III? In spite of the Cruise backlash, I thought that was a damn good movie... and much better than the previous M:I sequel. And Abrams deserves much of the credit, as it has his stamp all over it (including the flash-forward prologue, which is absolutely brilliant).

Totally agree. Also, M:I-3 was the best of the series, in my most humble opinion. PSH made the movie for me. Such an evil "bad guy."

Just ordered one.

Something tells me HasbroToyShop is not used to offering pre-orders this far in advance:

Item name: Cloverfield Movie Monster
Quantity: 1
Availability: Usually ships within 178-180 business days.

:lol :lol :lol

I think I'll wait until they put up a picture. I don't want to waste my time.

I thought about that, but didn't want to risk it possibly selling out before any pics actually appear.

It's very doubtful, but again, just in case... And it's a no-lose situation, because I can always cancel it. It's like 6-8 months away from release!

You have to read a few pages back -- wasn't talking about the movie as a whole. MiIII was good, but I thought it had a poor ending. Especially just throwing the bad guy in front of an oncoming car (didn't they do that gag in Speed with the subway train?). Anyway, you don't spend a whole movie building up a solid villain just to throw him away. As scubasteve says, 'such an evil bad guy' deserves a lot better.

That's the thing, though. Even though he was a solid character and played perfectly by PSH, I really didn't care about him as much as Ethan and his fiance. It didn't bother me at all that he was unexpectedly dispatched for a cheap sight-gag.

Oh. Well, it always bothers me. I like a good villain death. Especially if its your principle threat.

Wow, that is odd seeing such an expensive Hasbro figure and that its pre-ordering so far in advance. I'd be interested in seeing the final product... or if this ever actually gets made.
