But Cobra Commander never had a staff until version 13 in 2002. Definitely not vintage.

That's not correct. As I already said above CC wielded the serpent staff in the MASS Device cartoon miniseries which aired in 1983. Its about as vintage as they come. The fact that it wasn't made into a toy until 2002 is irrelevant. Lots of original 80's cartoon and comic designs never made it into toy form until years or decades later. Doesn't make the original elements "not vintage."

I know that about the cartoon. The question is it essential. The fact that it is didn't make it until later in the line makes me think that it is not essential to Cobra Commander not like Storm Shadows nunchuks. The old commander is fine without them.

Boy, won't you be disappointed then when Hasbro stops the 25th Anny line to put out the movie figures (which should be happening any day now). :lol As far as CC though, to each their own I guess. Again, IMO, lose Blade's trench and CC's just fine. Even better when they release the inevitable throne environment to go with him.

Don't get me started on the movie line. Atleast they are coming out with new figures based on the classic line like Monkey Wrench. Heck I wish the movie would have used Sideshow designs. Eventhough not my favorite, they totally kill the movie's designs. Atleast we can agree to disagree about Cobra Commander.

If just the original figures and/or card art are all that matter to you then I can see where for you only the laser pistol would be necessary. My point was simply that the cane is indeed a vintage throwback. Of course with Joe you can pick and choose which classic media warrants any recognition in the new line and its cool that SSC seems to be addressing them all (toy, cartoon, and comic.)

That's just it. According to an interview in ToyFare or Wizard (I don't remember which), the Hasbro exec stated that they will be putting the 25th Anniversary line on hold and focusing on releasing figures (both 3 3/4" and 12") based on the film.

As for CC, yeah. He might not be for everyone, but he's a damn sight better than the gay 12" Hasbro one with the Village People captain's hat.

ain't that the truth on CC over the movie crap!

I love the new line of figures except for the 12 inch versions. I won't get those and probably not that many collectors with be either. As far as Snake Eyes, he would sell in any version since he is the most popular character in the line. The only figure I am really fond of right now is Storm Shadow. The Cobra Trooper looks good but I wish the uniform was better tailored. Cobra Commander is my least favorite. So far I think I will get Storm Shadow and Snake Eyes. After that, I may call it a day. The 3 3/4 inch line is doing great for the most part and satisfies my Joe cravings. Storm Shadow is a great update and a new design. Cobra Commander should of had the same opportunity. Each is there own.

Ok... just wondeirng, how do you know anything about the tailoring on a figure that's not yet in hand anywhere on the globe?
Not trying to be an ass, but isin't a bit early to comment on something like this?

Well said.

I can't wait to get my CC.

btw Guys remember we're getting this badass figure for 99.99.... if you expect the best, go Hot Toys. Having said that, they don't have this license, and until then...this is the best available Cobra Commander out there.

Yup! $150 a pop for the best 4 figures ever released for a license containing so many diverse characters.

I think Dragon would have turned out the best line for RAH GI Joe.

Allow me to retort. :lol

If you have a problem with comments like THAT.. then surely you must have a problem with people who PRAISE the tailoring of a prototype. Right!? If you want an example go look in the Godfather thread(s) in General Collectibles. People are/were actually arguing about which clothing was better: HT or Enterbay, even though as you said, neither are "in-hand anywhere on the globe". So I'm curious. Because I'm guessing you've never made a similar comment on here to someone who was praising a prototype. Could be wrong though. :)

It doesn't change the fact that the figures have yet to be released and we've yet to even see production pics. At this point it's all still speculation.

I think you're confused. Or something!?

lerath666 was replying to this comment:

The Cobra Trooper looks good but I wish the uniform was better tailored.

drbrad1975 was commenting on the prototype pics of that figure.

I was simply asking lerath666 if he feels the same way about people making positive comments about Prototype clothing. You're pointing out the obvious (well at least it's obvious to me :D) but it has nothing to do with what I'm asking lerath666.

No, I got the gist of it. Either way, good or bad, the tailoring at this point is speculation. That's the point lerath was trying to make.

Have i ever asked that question about "good" tailoring on a prto? Yes, infact, i have. Medi-maul was the figure in question, I have no idea where the post is. ( might be on medi-world, might be here, likely on both)
Said the same thing about Medi Han a while ago too.
Comments about how "good" or "bad" somthing like tailoring, or paint work, or anything like that on a proto Is something that at best makes me roll my eyes, and at worst, rage enough to post about it.
A proto is just that,a Proto, TONS of things can change between the proto, and production, and people tend to forget that. ALOT.

i will, however, Say this. A negative comment about an unreleasd product is far more likely to be something i'll actualy comment on, and a postive comment about the same thing on an unreleased product is far more likely to simply get an Eye Roll from me.

That is incorrect. The 25th line is continuing. Goto Hisstank to look at the new photos of the new Resolute and ARAH 25th line of figures.

Umm...Isn't the point of a prototype is to figure out how a figure will look and be made during production? As far as I know, I don't really recall Sideshow production figures having better tailoring than the prototypes. Usually in most cases, the prototype clothing looks better than the production (and fit better as well). Is it speculation? Yes, but you can definitely make an argument that the prototype will have a better fit than the production version. Therefore, giving you can idea on how the production figure may look. That is the point of Sideshow showing the prototypes isn't it?

If we were limited to comments like "I can't wait to get it" or "I'm passing on the figure" for things that are unreleased, this place would be pretty dull.

I think its totally appropriate to say good or bad things about what you see in a prototype. Everyone knows things can change between proto and production.
