That would be the special backpack that some "fans" complain about on the 82/83 figure.

This I don't get. Why include the laser pistol at all if you don't have the backpack to put it on? If memory serves, even the hooded mail-away had the groove in the back to mount it to.

I think a nice shoulder rig would have been cooler than a belt holster and maybe would have gently morphed the backpack holster into something more realistic.

I think the laser pistol was originally going to be the exclusive as a simple throwback to the original but then they changed their minds. In the event that SS decided to release another Cobra Commander it wouldn't have been able to have the laser pistol because they don't re-use exclusives. So instead we got the exclusive cane and the pistol just got tacked on to CCs gear.

I don't mind the backpack on the original 2 CCs, but I think on this one it would look odd. The lower-torso power pack belt would look funny across the raised double breasted shirt. It's better saved for the '82 look. Just another reason why I'm hoping this is not the only Commander we see, although I'm it will be for some time.

you know... i had not thought about that with the commander, but you're right. and seeing as how each release since the commander has gone more and more in-line with the original 82 stuff, and less.... re-imagined ( look how muchh MORE the trooper looks like the original than cobra commander, and how much more storm shadow looks like the orginal than the trooper. Methinks it's a trend) I'd be suprised if they don't eventualy do a chrome dome CC.....

My Favorite Shot:

I loved this figure, its right up there with Snake Eyes, a bit higher IMHO. The jacket looks great but takes a lot to get it to sit right, I had remove the head (which popped off quite easily) and futz with it and then pop the head back on and push hard to get it to sit right. I love it though, even with the purple piping (its definitely purple and definitely noticable) although in the right lighting its passable. I can't wait for the next release! This line has just become my new favorite overtaking THE DEAD.

Nice job with the jacket futzing Mike. I still won't be displaying CC with it but it looks like you got the shoulder pads nice and flat. Nice work.

I've got some customizing ideas I'm gonna try. I like the coat generally, but I also want CC to be more impressive when he's not wearing it. Options. I think some fuller gloves, perhaps a shoulder strap in there somewhere, braiding, epaulets, new body (I like the pro, but not for this character). I'm thinking of weathering the coat a bit, which may not be a great idea for CC. I don't think he'd opt to wear anything that was too weathered. Things to think about.

I'd love to have the option of the Crimson CC cape, but I'm not certain I want to pay for the whole figure to get it. I'd definitely see about turning the cape around so that the red was on the inside. Very striking.

I really can't wait to get him! I've been missing CC since I sold my classic-style custom seven years ago.

Thanks for the kind words everyone, the funny thing is he is slightly shorter or at least it looks it next to Snake Eyes. Has anyone else noticed this?
