the officer gear on the sniper would look cool., then move the sniper gear to the officer and you got two different reg troops.

Once you factor in rewards points discounts on future orders you save what, a couple of bucks from a dealer, if even that? And that's sacrificing the peace of mind of being able to replace any random accessory on your figure (or just return it outright) no questions asked even after 30 days of purchase.

On exclusives, absolutely. For standard releases I used to think the same. However, we're talking $10 off with your average retail discount. Another $10 off with not having to pay taxes. And another $5 off not having to pay for UPS. Do that about 4 times and you've got another figure. I dunno, but to me it seems a better route saving $25 than going through SS and getting a measly $0.90 in rewards points.

Why should a vendor be responsible for your customization attempts???
I always open and inspect everything is present and accounted for when receiving orders from ANY purchase including Sideshow.

If I remember correctly, Khev contacted them about buying one and they sent him a replacement for free.

i agree with that and I'm not even a CA resident. However, on items that I think have a bigger risk of breakage, I definately like going through SSC because their CS is so good.

:lecture Being CA residents the option of turning to third party vendors for non-ex SS products becomes pretty attractive for folks like you and I... Taxes are through the roof in most counties (almost 10% in Alameda, where I used to live)..... too bad that logic goes out the window once I've decided the EX is too cool to do without.

Especially on something like a PF where the tax must be absolutely rediculous. I definitely see how outside vendors are a good option.
Although I also have to agree with Khev that SSC's CS is topnotch without a doubt. When I got Frodo the hem had come out on one of his sleeves and the cuff had a hole in it. I emailed them with a pic of the problem and about a week later I got another shirt in the mail.

Same here. All my EXs I get through SS, but I've done the math and I save quite a bit more when I buy through online vendors on the regular versions. Plus, AlterEgo and Vikings Playground give you reward points too.

I forgot about AlterEgo giving reward points. Hmm...goes to see if I need any preorders.

They shouldn't. The fact that SSC voluntarily paid for my mistake is one of the things that makes them awesome. Of course I wouldn't expect them to do that all the time or for really high ticket items but the fact that they just gave me an extra part that I had ruined when (as thenam mentioned) I asked if I could purchase an extra is pretty freaking cool.

Yeah, if you like more "realistic" interpretations of Joes, go with the Sniper. If you like the comic, go with the "Officer."

A "realistic" sniper wouldn't have a big reflective silver marking on his stealth black helmet nor would he have silver Cobra insignias advertising who he is working for.

...no ^^^^. You know of a lot of realistic terrorist organizations that buy from arms dealers with silver face masks or dress their troopers in blue with big red cobras on them?

I know of at least 3 that do that. Its a pretty common practice in the terrorist community. Surpised you didn't know that.

No crap? But as others are implying here, as far as potential Cobras go (even ones with no comic, cartoon, or figure-based precedent like this one), this is probably as close as you're gonna get. Of course, it is all relative with GI Joe--guy with silver face or skin that changes blue in the sun is fine to some (like myself) who will simultaneously think a neon green anti-pollutant brigade and space cyborg troopers is ridiculous and stupid.

Sniper may be he wrong choice of word by SST. Perhaps sharpshooter or designated marksmen. These guys would go in with the troops and provide accurate shooting unlike snipers who work alone or in small in small teams and do the stalking (and need more camo). I imagine Cobra's fashion consultant believes in pure intimidation over the limited benefits of camo (in a likely urban environment) - nothing like a bunch of masked dudes in blue (or black) running out you yelling Cobra!
