the officer gear on the sniper would look cool., then move the sniper gear to the officer and you got two different reg troops.
Once you factor in rewards points discounts on future orders you save what, a couple of bucks from a dealer, if even that? And that's sacrificing the peace of mind of being able to replace any random accessory on your figure (or just return it outright) no questions asked even after 30 days of purchase.
Why should a vendor be responsible for your customization attempts???
I always open and inspect everything is present and accounted for when receiving orders from ANY purchase including Sideshow.
On exclusives, absolutely. For standard releases I used to think the same. However, we're talking $10 off with your average retail discount. Another $10 off with not having to pay taxes. And another $5 off not having to pay for UPS. Do that about 4 times and you've got another figure. I dunno, but to me it seems a better route saving $25 than going through SS and getting a measly $0.90 in rewards points.

Being CA residents the option of turning to third party vendors for non-ex SS products becomes pretty attractive for folks like you and I... Taxes are through the roof in most counties (almost 10% in Alameda, where I used to live)..... too bad that logic goes out the window once I've decided the EX is too cool to do without.

Same here. All my EXs I get through SS, but I've done the math and I save quite a bit more when I buy through online vendors on the regular versions. Plus, AlterEgo and Vikings Playground give you reward points too.
Officer... IMO, it's a pretty simple choice.

Yeah, if you like more "realistic" interpretations of Joes, go with the Sniper. If you like the comic, go with the "Officer."If you're a comic fan then it's a simple choice. I never read the comics and I don't see too much about the officer to get excited about.

...no ^^^^. You know of a lot of realistic terrorist organizations that buy from arms dealers with silver face masks or dress their troopers in blue with big red cobras on them?

No crap? But as others are implying here, as far as potential Cobras go (even ones with no comic, cartoon, or figure-based precedent like this one), this is probably as close as you're gonna get. Of course, it is all relative with GI Joe--guy with silver face or skin that changes blue in the sun is fine to some (like myself) who will simultaneously think a neon green anti-pollutant brigade and space cyborg troopers is ridiculous and stupid.A "realistic" sniper wouldn't have a big reflective silver marking on his stealth black helmet nor would he have silver Cobra insignias advertising who he is working for.
They should have called him Dr. Fumbles.
