So let me get this straight just so I understand what all the fuss is about. The reason some are getting bent out of shape is just because this guy was never a toy or in a comic book? If so, then some of you need to take your blinders off because you are going to miss out on a great trooper. Just saying'

we have a great trooper, which was the 1st (blue) original release..some people are upset because they were expecting something New in character....they are already doing a re-dressed cobra officer,and instead we are getting 3rd version of the same trooper,same clothes and almost the same accessories.People have the right to be dissapointed..I think people ride Sideshow's leg way too much and just accept everything given to them,so now we must wait longer for the next released character...how about a tiger force duke after the original duke?

Yet if they weren't releasing extra figures, there'd be whining about how Sideshow's gonna kill the line with the crawling pace. This is a good, solid, sensible addition that makes sense. Those who are whining need only collect the quarterly "A-lister" releases or reserve it for something that's nothing short of a redundant, cash-in addition to the line like the Cobra Commander.

i don't really get all the backlash to be honest. it's a cobra trooper...dressed in black...with a sniper rifle. what's not to like? it's not like we aren't getting firefly or zartan now.

I get disappointed frequently when new releases are announced. They seldom meet my expectations, and it's usually because the announcement was a clone trooper after the last clone just finished shipping, or a new sandtrooper, just as the first trooper finishes shipping, or the figure is based on a cartoon, or a book I've never read, or anything that either doesn't interest me or doesn't surprise me. Lately it has been happening almost every time.

Then, a second later, I'm over it and I'm ready to be presented with the new figure and if it's cool by it's own accord, then it doesn't matter one bit what I thought I was going to get. I don't know. I know that if I acted like this when I was a kid, there would be atleast one adult standing around wanting to slap me for it. And I knew they'd be right. I'd seen enough whiny brats in my short time on the planet to know why adults would want to slap them.

The funny thing is that it was the simple fact of knowing an adult could get mad enough to hit that made me consider whether having a whiny attitude was good or bad. I didn't need to get slapped.

See, I just don't get this argument. Of course all the Cobra troops are going to be wearing the same uniform (albeit small changes i.e colors, insignias etc. etc.) they are part of the same faction!. This guy isn't Viper, or any other specialized group, he's infantry! Last time I checked, one of a Snipers best ally is stealth so it makes sense (to me at least) that he be wearing black. Where's he supposed to hide and pick off greenshirts if he's wearing a bright blue uniform with red highlights? He's better hope there's a blueberry bush nearby to duck into.

And as far as not getting A-listers right outta the gate, I say - what's your hurry??? I'm sick of seeing so many posts with the "this line is going to die!!!" or the always popular "look at what happened to LOTR!" mentality.

Last time I checked, one of a Snipers best ally is stealth so it makes sense (to me at least) that he be wearing black.

Real world snipers wear camo to match their terrain, just like infantry. If the Cobra Trooper doesn't wear camo why should the Sniper? Its not like black would do any good in the desert, forest, jungle, snow, many urban environments, etc.

I'm honestly surprised that nobody's pointed out the fact that the SVD isn't a sniper rifle. Guess that goes to show how much foundation there is for the anti argument. That would at least add a minute fraction of footing for the whiners, but they'd rather ^^^^^ and whine about fashion.
