I have everything in Boxes except for my Enterbay Jack Bauer and my Power loader and that's only because I don't have a place to display my figures yet. Once I get a curio or detolf they're coming out to be admired.

I only kept my stuff in their boxes when I moved from the old apartment to the new house. After getting my collection room ready I got them all out and displayed them. BUT I kept all the original boxes and I also use cabinets with glass doors to protect the items inside from dust + no smoking home and no direct light.

I like the seller to have at least opened it to see if it was undamaged

Used to keep my old figures/statues in their window packaging... selling most of it off now and taking out the ones I like.

HT figs, and partially this board has made me do it.

Buying a collectible and keeping it boxed up is like buying a prostitute and telling her to keep her clothes on. Wait.. bad example. It's like buying cocaine and not snorting it.. wait.. wait..

Meh.. you know what I mean. Gotta go.. I got a prostitute and cocaine waiting.

i used to buy two of each figure to keep one open and the other one unopened but after a couple figures i learned that it drained my wallet too quickly and forced me to give up some figures. now i only buy one to keep in my detolf

I like to take them out and display them. I bought the stuff to enjoy it not as an investment. Everyone is welcome to their opinion but I don't see spending the kind of money that most of my stuff costs to let it sit in a box in my closet.

I open and display every single hot toys I get, but I do keep the boxes for all of them, just in case I move one day or if my collection gets too big and I have to let a few pieces go, but it's amazing to just stare at them from time to time when they are all displayed up.

unless you are a storefront..............release them from the packages.............otherwise...............meh.:dunno

when i first started collecting i was gonna leave the figures in the box. but then i had a dream where my 5 year old counterpart visited me through some rift in the space-time continuum and kicked the crap out of me for not opening my toys. i woke up in a cold sweat and now i open everything.,

I have my collection for me, first and foremost. So I open my stuff up and display it. There are people who only buy stuff to turn a profit in the future, therefore they like to leave it.

Great subject for descussion, love it.
I´m on a german board where are guys who mainly collect Motu and DCUC and they have rooms full of shelves that contain perfectly held figures. Their collection looks like a complete toys´r us and not like a fellow collector´s room.
But power to themselves.
I for myself like my figs displayed and since the my start with HT figs I keep the boxes mint, which of course is a little problem with the 6" clamshells...so my 6" do probably have a less good of a value.
But like other fellas here said: I´m collecting and not gettin´em for selling.

Display 'em. They're no good sitting in a box IMO. You might as well enjoy them, while you can.

The only figures I keep unopened are ones where the box makes it special like the theater edition 3 3/4" Luke or the CIII Vader.
