When was Flintstones guy on? I must have missed it because I'm watching the Battlestar Galactica guy and robot guy right now.

I think he may have mother issues.

He did have a pretty amazing collection, and it was cool that they brought people in from Hanna-Barbera to see his stuff, but the guy who wanted to buy the puppet definitely felt scripted, as did the guy how bought the Popy Godzilla.

I'm gonna go out on a limb and say he used money. :lecture:lecture:lecture:exactly:

Nice pic. I'm gonna go clean my pants now.

It seems the show isn't doing that well if they're burning off 2 episodes in a night with a new episode coming out of prime time. That's too bad, seems like it could help some people.

And I figured Marlo was a member here - too many Hot Toys not to be. But I've never heard customizing called "model bashing" - did they make that up because "customizing" is too generic, or is that really a thing?

If it's really a thing that's pretty embarrassing for ME not to know.

I got to play scary face lady today, and helped clean out this barn FULL of stuff. And toys of all kinds. So much MOTU, and various figures.

Some vintage Star Wars, snagged me a Boba Fett :D. Also found an Aliens powerloader, and an Alien.

And various other figures. I'll post pics a bit later.

I found this awesome thing in while looking through a bunch of boxes while I cleaned out this place.

Can I be mean and tell you why you don't understand and WHY it's could be called model bashing? :D

You have to promise, no infraction though.

in the end either way you die, choose wisely.

From: https://www.bleedingcool.com/2012/09/13/how-master-collectors-became-collection-intervention/

DC Comics inker Marlo Alquiza was on the season finale of Collection Intervention on SyFy two nights ago. The show looked at his model building skills and collection of figures, into five figures. However, when they approached him to do the show, it was called Master Collectors. A slight shift in tone perhaps? Rather than a show about a collector, they turned it into an invervention show, to get him to reduce his model making time and collection. Marlo writes;

Hey guys! I didn’t even know this aired already! LOL! Oh man! You don’t know me… You don’t know me! So embarrassing! I don’t even get SyFy, so I’ll have to get a copy somewhere!

Let’s just say when I was approached, the show was called Master Collectors… after the shoot, I find out it’s gonna be called Collection Intervention! WTF! Then there’s all the crap they made us do. My wife was still jet lagged from coming home the day before from the Philippines, so she was not happy! My left foot was injured which is why I’m now in a cast, but they didn’t care. It was 3 days of hell! Oh boy!

Some single presenter pieces-to-camera and voiceovers reveal how they turned one filmed show into another by adding these links;

“So I think I need a little more information about Marlo’s collection, before we can make a plan”

“When a collector starts keeping secrets about their collection from family members, it can be a sight that there’s a real problem”

“He’s a great artist, he should work in the movies or in the comics, that’s his dream job”

“It’s my job to facilitate a compromise”

Put all these around someone talking about their collection, especially in a self-depracating fashion in places, and you create a narrative that wasn’t there originally. The same tricks were clearly being used on the other participants in the show. Once you know it’s going on, it’s hard not to see it.

Moral of the story? Don't whore out your collection, it might bite you in the ass. :lecture:lecture:lecture :lol

Not cool! I haven't even seen the show, so I can't really make fair comments as to how it turned out, so go figure.

Not cool where this is all going and I hate all this gossip BS! I didn't agree to this becoming any kind of gossip news! I need to learn to watch what I say as this was all in the context of my former studio buddies and I BSing about my segment which again, I haven't even seen! They were poking fun and of course we say things between friends that could easily be taken differently. What I said wasn't meant to be negative towards the show but more or less in defense of me being on "one of those" reality shows. Again, just BSing with old buddies for laughs!

The crew was hard working and kind, the host was also cool and professional, the title I originally got was just a "working title", and by the end of the show I would have to say it was an experience that did become very helpful in our lives. I did sell things off and they got me to think about selling off more of my collection that wasn't as important and also helped us in organizing my stuff at home. My point was that it wasn't easy shooting by any means as we weren't prepared for what was involved, but they accommodated us as best they could.
