Would anyone be interested in a feature that would notify you when SSC collectibles (or other potential manufacturers) go on WL or go back on sale after coming off WL?

It would be awesome to know when they get something off the wait list.

How about notification of price drop? Would you guys be into that too?

I was just about to ask that every same thing!

I think that is something we are going to explore next! We would love to hear some feedback on that piece. Get people in this thread if you can, not sure how many people really read this anymore. I am not sure I want to start another thread either.

Alright with a big help from Pixelpiper we just pushed out a new import feature.

We can now import collectibles from manufacturer's product pages.

Right now we only support Sideshow but we are going to be adding more soon. Assuming you enter in a valid product page, it should process all of the data and import it directly into our database and then present you with the edit page. Below each field will show the value that was parsed. This is helpfully for the dropdown type fields to see why or why not something was selected. If a value like a brand or person doesn't exist in our database yet you will have to manually add that.

Let me know if you have any issues.

I should specify that we only support the sideshow website. It will import collectibles from other manufacturers from the sideshow website.

Need to let you know about a few adjustments necessary on the import. My suggestion is not to write any of the import stuff to the database for now and have it "demo only" - otherwise it may be difficult to make adjustments/changes to the product data later.

Is it around the data in the description or something else?

The only data that gets saved automatically is text fields or when it does string lookups against type tables. At this point we aren't automatically adding new stuff like brands, manufacturers or artists. We are just adding against existing types and then only importing in text fields for the collectible.

Thoughts on keeping collectibles in the database that have been cancelled? It would be indicated somehow that it has been cancelled but and a user wouldn't be able to add it to their stash or wishlist but we could still maintain a record of it.

How do mean "cancelled"? Something that was announced by a vendor but then never produced, or a collectible that accidentally ended up with 2 different records for the same product in the stash database?

Ah sorry, the first one. Something that a manufacturer announced and maybe even created a prototype for but then it was cancelled. There is a collectible in our database currently that someone pointed out was cancelled. Got me thinking.

If it never physically existed, how could someone have it in their collection?

Unless they can show they have the prototype, I think a cancelled item should be removed from anyone's collection. There could be an argument for having it in the stash as a reference...someone searches for "did anyone ever make a collectible of xyz" would show it, but as a product that never actually launched.

Conversely, just remove it entirely from the database. If someone can prove they got their hands on the prototype, that could then get set up as a custom one-off collectible.

Well chances are they never had it in their stash. We do allow prototypes/preordered items to be added to the database. That way users can add them to their wishlists. They could in theory add it to their stash if they want but they probably shouldn't.

I believe in this case the collectible might have went up for reservation/preorder but then was later cancelled.

An "un-produced" flag would probably take care of this on the database side. I think it's worth supporting.

FYI, we recently updated/modified our old favorite/subscription system. You can now favorite collectibles and members by clicking the "heart" icon on the collectibles detail page or a user's stash page. These will now show up in your stash, where you can better manage your favorites. It is just another way to keep track of collectibles you might like a lot but don't actually want to own.

We need a "wife view" that can quickly be toggled at the press of a button/key (JS/Ajax for sure as you don't want to see the whole page refresh). It would update all the purchase prices to something super low instantly. Current/market value can remain the same. :)
