Maybe Community will take over 30 Rock's Thursday 8PM time slot once their 13 ep season ends?

Either that or it'll grab the 8:30 slot from Up All Night, which has been doing pretty badly lately. Either way, it would be up against the X Factor again and either The Big Bang Theory or Two and a Half Men, and that wouldn't be any better for its ratings than the Friday slot...it could very possibly be worse.

No news on the show. :monkey2

...but something to ease the pain of waiting. :wink1:

(semi-NSFW, but it wasn't too racy for Entertainment Weekly; suffice it to say, viewer discretion is advised)

You are correct, sir.

"Community" officially has a Season 4 premiere date. The beloved comedy will return to its old Thursday at 8 p.m. timeslot beginning Thursday, February 7. "Community" will take the timeslot when "30 Rock" ends its seven-year run.

You are correct, sir.

I am glad NBC moved this show out of the Friday night death slot. It still has a tough time slot being up against Big Bang Theory, but at least it is where it belongs with NBC's other comedies. I also heard that Parks & Rec will follow at 8:30 ad The Office at 9.

Plus, 30 Rock doesn't have good ratings, either. So even with the presumably low ratings Community will get, it won't be much of a drop-off, if at all.

Personally, I'm glad to see him go, the video game/father episode last season pretty much wrapped up the need for his character.

I would like to see Pierce's character replaced with another veteran comedic actor, maybe someone like Bob Newhart. I think the age dynamic works for the group, they just need someone who is better suited in an ensemble cast.

Newhart was just an example of someone who has experience working with a cast.

Chevy Chase has done a handful of things I enjoy (Christmas Vacation, Fletch, SNL news) but for the most part his 'schtick' is the bumbling, sarcastic, down on his luck, leading man. His performance in Community shows that he isn't accustomed to being a supporting actor, with a minor role, which is why I think he has always thought the show to be "beneath him".

Apparently he's only missing a couple episodes. They filmed the finale out of order and he's apparently in that. Whether they write him out and refilm some scenes remains to be seen. Honestly... I won't miss him. Hell, give me Troy, Abed and Annie spin off and I'll be a happy guy.

I agree. And I think Bob Newhart is an inspired idea. It's an older person, but with a completely different personality that would bring a fresh perspective to the group. I could totally see Newhart doing his schtick and fitting right in.

I'm really curious about how this season is going to be. I was a huge fan of the original series so I was concerned when Harmon was fired. But I'm also a huge fan of Happy Endings, so I'm really anxious to see how this will all play out.

I'm excited for this season, even without Harmon, as Happy Endings has been one of the most consistently strange and funny shows I have seen in the last few years, as is Community.

I would add Raising Hope to that list too, with Cloris Leachman proving that there is still a place for veteran comedic actors in today's TV, and she is a few years older than Newhart!

Love Raising Hope too!

It would be brilliant if they could get Bill Murray to replace Chase since he replaced Chase when he left SNL in '75!

I saw Bob Newhart in a commercial recently, looked like he had one foot in the grave. I agree he'd be great though if he were up to it.

Newhart is 83. That's advanced age for a steady gig.

Only one or two episodes of season 4 have yet be shot, and I don't even see the show lasting beyond that. While I'm not personally championing Newhart for the show, he should be able to handle two episodes.

It's almost October 19th! Really looking forward to this season, I'm both excited for it but also saddened as I don't want Pierce to inevitably leave.
