If that was the case, then why didn't Lucas tell Ian to play Palpatine "faster and more Intense" after shooting Mace out the window. Instead Ian played the exact opposite. Sure looks like he got an ass beating to me:

What I see is Palpatine faking being an old tired man to force Anakin hand and turn him to the Dark Side, just like Lucas said. If Palpatine was really wounded and weakened, he would never shoot lightning again or stand up as if nothing happened after the duel.

I just think being zapped by Force lightning like that is bound to cause some disfiguration. And I don't think that really contradicts what Lucas said. I'm not familiar with Pablo Hidalgo, who is he? Depending on what he means by a dark side reaction it could be due to the Force lightening.

Yeah, I can go with that explanation. I think I like it more than just being disfigured by lightning too. Thanks for the info.

I like the Sidious hilt. Several of the background Jedi have cool sabers, too.

Side note: Mace wouldn't have beat Palpatine, because only the Chosen One can destroy the Sith. Mace isn't the Chosen One, and so he would've lost, one way or another.

Yep, his saber became the template for most of all the background Jedi. That knocks off a few points against Maul for originality.

Im too lazy to write it out so i'll direct you to a good reference page. there are a lot of differences actually, however to a casual prop observer you wouldnt really notice them.
