Nonsense. That film was made yesterday.

Theres alotta truth to that statement ............. it looks better than most films made today. It could have been made yesterday.

Are we talking about T2 or the first Terminator? If it's the latter, I have to disagree. I love the film but it is definitely dated. From the surgery scene (which scared the hell out of me when I was a kid) to the stop motion endo it just doesn't hold up as well. It's gritty and grainy but that's fine, it is after all a period piece. The year? 1984.

Now if we're talking Terminator 2, that is another story. That film looks so modern it's not even funny. Other than the extras and what people are wearing it COULD pass off as being made yesterday. The effects are seamless and everything is nice and clean. The cinematography really reminds me of the Dark Knight.

The dated effects are part of T1's charm IMO. I love animatronic Arnie, it adds to the freakiness of that scene. Of course wouldn't expect them to do it like that today.

T2's CGI would be done better now. It was done better in 2003. The liquid metal effects on the TX were more realistic looking than T2s. T-800s battle damage from the steel mill would of course be CGI today but I'm just so used to the applied prosthetics that I almost regret when figures of BD T-800 really do cut away 'flesh' instead of adding it to the face like the film.

Actually, I would assume anyone wanting a normal head for a Biker T-1000 is because after T-800 blows him apart in the mill, he reforms but his pants and boots are from the biker costurem and his shirt is from the patrol costume, it's a 50/50, presumably another effort at showing that the T-1000 wasn't 100% after reforming post blast.

Wow, after the literally impossible to estimate number of times I've seen the movie, I've never noticed that. That's great.

I still argue that the CGI in T2 looks better than most recent CGI effects. I think one of the main reasons is that in T2, they didn't solely rely on CGI for all the movies' effects. Instead, they had a perfect mixture of live action, models & props, and CGI to achieve an almost flawless motion pictures.
An exact contrast to lets say ... the 3 Star Wars prequels which relied solely on CGI but lacked substance, in my opinion.

T2 was as polished a movie as you would see in its time, but making a good, quality film wasn't new in the early 1990s. The special and visual effects were damn good, though.

:lecture My thoughts exactly.

True on all accounts... But lets leave the prequels out of the conversation. :monkey2

Yeah theres loads of stuff like that.

It was a long time before I noticed the extra arms when he's piloting the helicopter. Its awesome I love when they put in special effects without beating you over the head with them :D
