"Could"/"Would" Michael Bay been a better choice for GI JOE: The Rise of COBRA?

See subject.

Instead of Stephen Sommers?

Compare the track record of the two directors. Yes. I would not say ***** caliber for either, but . . .

Considering Bay's success with the two TRANSFORMERS films . . . maybe he should have handled GI JOE to start with?

Hell yes, instead of Sommers.

Re: "Could"/"Would" Michael Bay been a better choice for GI JOE: The Rise of COBRA?

None of them was fit to do those movies..Transformers was a big failure in my book.

Re: "Could"/"Would" Michael Bay been a better choice for GI JOE: The Rise of COBRA?

Absolutely. Bay is actually a better fit for JOE than he is TRANSFORMERS.

Too bad we'll never know for sure.

You know who I would've liked to have seen with the G.I. Joe property? Someone who would treat it with some realism and less-matrix world filming... Someone like Paul Greengrass, the director of the last two "Bourne" movies.

Re: "Could"/"Would" Michael Bay been a better choice for GI JOE: The Rise of COBRA?

Yes. Bay is the lesser of two evils.

And as much crap as we give him, Bay has some clout or connections with the U.S. military, which would be perfect for G.I. Joe.

Has GI even previewed yet?

Re: "Could"/"Would" Michael Bay been a better choice for GI JOE: The Rise of COBRA?

Maybe it's just an inherently stupid idea to make a big-budget two hour film out of an eighties action figure line? Transformers was crap, and I don't see GI Joe being any different. If I had to say which one looks better I would probably go with Joe, but it still looks pretty mindnumbing.

The only reason anybody can enjoy those movies is out of blind nostalgia and familiarity with the characters (which I understand is why they get greenlighted to begin with.) If you don't know the characters, didn't grow up with it, or are over the age of twelve, it's mindless summer "fun" at it's worst.

Greengrass is a good choice.

Re: "Could"/"Would" Michael Bay been a better choice for GI JOE: The Rise of COBRA?

Yes. Bay would make them look like real military men.

Exactly..........

Michael Bay is still making movies?

Re: "Could"/"Would" Michael Bay been a better choice for GI JOE: The Rise of COBRA?

Bay might have been less bad, but I don't know about better.

Re: "Could"/"Would" Michael Bay been a better choice for GI JOE: The Rise of COBRA?

Well, it's easy to assume Bay's version of G.I. Joe would have an equal or greater amount of things exploding. And he'd be dissatisfied with a CG shot of the Eiffel Tower melting. He'd do it for real.

im glad your the only one that reads that book!

Well, the autobot twins can't read, period.

These are my thoughts, as well. Apart from Uwe Boll and the Wayans Brothers (who are placing their stamp on this one as best they can), I can't hardly think of people I would less like to take over the GI Joe movie than those two ass clowns. I would rather see the director of one of those DTV Seagal movies get a shot.

Maybe a bit better of a choice, but not that much improvement. What the movie needed was a complete script overhaul.
