I wonder when Sideshow will bring the live chat function back. I've been trying for the past few days at all sorts of times, and nothing. They must be really busy.

As long as you're diligent about watching the pre-order item page for a sell out, you shouldn't need to worry about pre-ordering something. If you get on the wait list as soon as the pre-order sells out there's no chance it won't convert. You probably have weeks to safely get on the wait list.

As for products that are already in-stock and then go to wait list, I've had those convert also, but have missed a few. But I'm not sure how long after they went to wait list I got on in those cases.

The Star Wars stuff has been selling out surprisingly fast so I'm probably going to continue to pre-order what I want before release so I don't regret passing later.

I don't think the Hot Toys Star Wars have been selling out that fast from Sideshow. Number one, I don't think any have sold out strictly on pre-order and never actually been in stock, except possibly the Shadow Trooper and other exclusive variants. The ones that have sold out don't seem to have been all that quick. Here's what I think has sold out so far:

Luke Bespin (of course )
Shadow Trooper
Stormtrooper 2-pack
Stormtrooper single
Han/Chewbacca 2-pack
Han single

Wait list:
Chewbacca single
Leia exclusive
Luke Stormtrooper

BBTS has also sold out of Leia, Obi-Wan and Kylo Ren, so might want to watch out for those going out on Sideshow next.

I guess the only OT ones Sideshow has actually in stock right now are Spacetrooper, Obi-Wan and Sandtrooper. BBTS still has at least 24 Sandtrooper so BBTS is safe as a back-up for now.

Sideshow aren't selling out because internationals are no longer buying from them due to the exchange rates and many Americans are buying from overseas to take advantage of the high exchange rate. Sideshow is practically the last place to sell out right now.

I live in the US so I don't have to worry about fees and all that crap. I'll always buy from SSC because at the least you can get $20 off and rewards, and I want the replacement safety net in case there is a defect.

BBTS has also sold out of Leia, Obi-Wan and Kylo Ren, so might want to watch out for those going out on Sideshow next.

Glad I pre-ordered Day 1! Living in California, ordering from Sideshow is way more expensive than waiting a few weeks after everyone else has gotten theirs from them.

BBTS sometimes sells out faster due to the lack of NRDs and no-hassle cancellations.

Well, that sucks. It said preorder sold out 2 days ago when I went to place my order. Ended up getting it at Timewalker toys. Would have preferred BBTS, but it's no big deal.

People order and cancel from BBTS all the time because of no NRD. If i want to PO something from them that is sold out i'll just wait and keep checking it usually comes back into stock.

I grabbed Rey/BB-8 from Sideshow. I had $144.49 in RPs, so it was only logical. But in the future I may consider BBTS; can you cancel from your orders screen? Or do you need to contact them?

Also another reason why Sideshow don't sell out as fast, people don't want to pay an NRD and they never used to have those in the past.

It's funny people hate NRDs so much... It's not extra cost. I don't order things I might cancel later on so it doesn't bother me.

Had I ordered SSC Threepio and had to cancel due to Thumbgate, I'd be annoyed. To be fair, those scenarios aren't that common and the perceived safety net is dependent on early release photos out of HK.

Still waiting for a $20 code to order Rey and BB8! I agree that I only order what I don't intend to cancel, but it's always good to have an "out". You never know what's going to happen in the future (job loss, car or home repairs, medical, etc.).
