Don't think I mentioned this before in all the hubbub, but congrats on that Clayface. It was pretty cool! That Thanos rocks too. Both were very well done. Had a lot of fun here for the most part this year and look forward to what they decide to do next year. Thanks Sideshow and the team for the fun and rewards! Thanks to those here that helped out and posted the codes for those of us that don't get the email notices for some reason! Helped out as I could with a few, hopefully I will be of more help next year!

Since the start of this thread (like,two spooks ago) I have never been able to catch every single code, but I got many thanks to you guys and especially thanks to those who are nice to take time of their day to email me (us).Sideshow has the best reward program I have ever been part of and this promotions only make it better.As for the fake codes... I hope sideshow continues with the promotion. Now that the people here see what might happen, it's safe to say they will think twice before posting fake codes.

I want to thank everyone who was posting in this thread for the last week that had a good time, and to cheer on everyone who fought cancer and won, as well as those that are still fighting it. Congrats to all the freaks that won stuff, 0/nearly all myself.

I went 12/13 in codes though, the old fashioned way, by sitting on the net the whole damn week refreshing facebook, twitter, and my sideshow account for codes. This thread, and all you fast posting posters, made it less boring. I got the email codes a few hours earlier because of it, but I was never fast enough to add a new code to the thread, well a fake one that was asterisked and labeled fake in the same post.

Funnily enough most fake codes showed up on Thursday though, the day that should go down in the books as Code-less Thursday, Sideshow seemed to take the stance of "spooks not all about codes", probably to stop the whiners whining about missing them (pure conjecture on my part), and only released the one email code. I can take blame for my one fake code, and for laughing at all the rest posted, which encouraged more, but there wouldn't have been so many if Thursday wasn't so dry, finger pointing goes both ways.

My only real criticism, is that the social media angle of spook was the big let down, it's fine for contests, and deals, but the codes should have been dished out on the actual store, with more time for people to use them, even if it meant fewer codes. I don't think fake codes were a big issue last year for that reason alone, and maybe less people would have complained overall. I know I would have been more tempted to buy something actually being on the store all day, instead of only running to put a code in. I was only really tempted to enter contests for free stuff...

Now that it's over I'm gonna head to Sideshow for things I can spend my RP on...

Almost have enough for the Vampirella Tooned up statue, but I really like the Thor Frog diorama, and I can't stand that the lovely Spider-woman print didn't sell out yet, and I could get a decent chunk out of Pinhead, but I don't think I have room for him...

LOL The never ending eternal collector debate continues...

Another great event. The contests had some amazing prizes, including but not limited to pick your own prize and Hulk and Banner 2-pack. It certainly had it's stressful moments, but I'm now $50 richer towards my goal. Thanks to all!

Like I mentioned I doubt people reported fake codes but wanted to know why codes didn't work.

Regardless those posting fake codes and being childish when people asked them to stop potentially ruined future codes.

I wanted to comment on two of the supposed solutions.

Yeah, neither of those solutions are ideal, which is why I suggested the most simple of options which is moving this thread to the Sandbox forum. All members, premium and non-premium can access that forum, but non-members (guests, google search, etc.) cannot.

The other solution, a little more secure still, would be a private thread where the thread starter would have control over who is allowed to see the contents of the thread. That's not a feature supported by the regular board software that I know of and would require a plugin or patch of some kind. That's work that Dave would have to do, so I'm not expecting him to take time implementing it.

At the end of the day the only problem was people calling Sideshow's phone line about codes. I can absolutely see that as problem and as a business owner myself I would find it tedious to deal with if it got out of hand. However, I believe something like this would happen or could happen even with strictly legitimate codes, after all, most of them expired after 10 minutes. My other concern with regards to search and guest access to this thread is that Sideshow may continue to receive calls about codes when someone finds them posted months from now. "Hey Sideshow, I just found a few codes on a forum and I can't figure out where to type them - or they're not saving to my wallet - what's going on?"

There's only so much one can do to idiot-proof a public space. I think moving the thread into the Sandbox forum is the easiest and least impactful alternative.

I've echoed my sentiment on these promotions many times before including the reward points system and giveaways. I believe they are a huge boost to Sideshow's sales both during the promotional period and well into the future. A few dollars of discount here and there will make the difference between someone buying or skipping a release. I also feel that this thread, in particular, drives a significant amount of traffic to Sideshow's site and social feeds, plus drives a significant amount of sales to their store.

Furthermore you're throwing insults out to the people who contacted SS about codes not working- but when someone justifiably calls out the childish behavior of the ones posting the fake codes that led to the customer service issues and SS possibly ending the free codes you're saying my stating facts is harmful?
