Re: Current discount codes at SSC and other random rumblings

Wow Chicky, i hope not. I have been here a long time seen Spook in at least 9 varieties. I remember crashing the site on many occasions trying to find all your easter eggs. Yeah it was annoying at times but all my Spook memories are good ones.

I do miss the new product announcements and the fun productions you always had around them. I think we all can agree that and chatting with you all are what really makes it worth the time. At least it does for me.
Hey Serenity! I remember you from many Spooks. You should have joined us in the chatroom! Next year, you definitely should!

I honestly can't believe people would take the time out of their day to contact sideshow over codes. It must be nice to have that much free time in your day.
I concur. I would never even consider doing such a thing.

It just was a situation where people were having fun that ended up with unfortunate side effects. No one would ever have thought what happened would happen. :) we live and learn and will fight for another day (rather another Spooktacular!!!). :)

Alex, here's my suggestion for next year. Before the codes are posted, and when they are posted, put a disclaimer that Customer Service should NEVER be contacted regarding a rewards code or any contest. And IF you do call customer service, your account will be disabled from EVER entering a rewards code in the future. That'll learn em.

I don't see how anyone could strike up the nerve to contact you guys and complain about codes not working. It's up there with complaining to CS that you missed the deadline for entering expired codes.

Okay, so you saw a code on a forum and you took a second or two to plug it in only to find it isn't real. Okay, it isn't valid. Move on. Why complain to you guys? For the sheer amount of playful fake codes being posted by people (myself included) as we passed time, it should have been common sense which ones were fake and which ones were real. If I got hit up with complaints during a free promotion from overzealous, ungrateful customers, I'd cease the promotion.

You know what they say, you give an inch, they take a mile.

Anyway, I had a good time and appreciate the amount of free rewards that I was given. Thanks Sideshow.
Agree on all counts! :lecture

Is it December yet? I've been watching this movie every year around Christmas time since it was released in theaters! Such a great Christmas film!

Somebody Premiere PLEASE rep Alex for that comment! :lecture

:lol

So who took advantage of all the savings sideshow was offering during spooktacular ??

I got alot more than i thought i would lol

Hot toys..

superman $126 shipped counting rewards
general zod $120 "
mechanic tony $121 "

and the main one i was waiting for a savings code on was Iron Patriot and of course theres no code for him so i finally used generic Cr33pydeal14 and bought it 229.98 shipped counting rewards..

some amazing saving to be had with the free shipping and the additional reward points as well as the percent off savings, So did you guys spend more than you thought you were goin to before spooktacular started ??
I spent way too much on Sideshow in October. But the item I wanted most, Chewbacca PF, never went on discount. If that hit 25% off or more, would have bought it for sure. I'm a bit disappointed, but my wallet is happy. Perhaps Black Friday will have some additional discounts! I'm hoping...

Can't believe Nathan Drake figure sold out. Is that the only other thing other than Hulk/Bruce set?
The cantina environment sold out as well. I attempted to buy it before it went Waitlist but it said "sold out" when I tried to add it to the cart. I was both disappointed and glad all at once...

I love this thread, it's like The School of Athens. With fart, piss and d--- jokes! :wink1:

Yeah, there's a lot of educational content too, if that's important to you. :lol

Re: Current discount codes at SSC and other random rumblings

Hmmm, just a thought but maybe people weren't pissed off because of non-working fake codes at all, but rather because the real codes seemed to use conflicting shorthand. In one code a "1" is an "i" and in another it's an "L" - that's super confusing. Very easy to make mistakes - most people do not know about the existence of cut and paste - if you've never done IT support, take my word for it.

You're spot on. I remember a nuuumber of people who kept confusing the 0 for a O and so on. Truthfully 75% of their calls could have been based on that alone while 25% were the fakes. We just happened to get the blame for all of em. There's really just no way to tell.

Re: Current discount codes at SSC and other random rumblings

So those who ordered the Kier print (or either print for that matter) w/o the frame w/intent saving $ (me inc), prob should've just ordered the framed option.
Just left Michael's and to get very close to what SS was offering may be mute, even after a Michael's sale and SS shipping costs. It "looks" like SS spared little expense picking the double mat and frame, nice job. Although you will get UV glass from Michael's in the bundle package.

So it comes down to worrying about SS shipping care or taking the time and lugging the print to get framed yourself. Unless you go cheap on the framing there isn't much of a savings for the hassle.

My bright side is I dont have to spend the extra $120 now because Im not going to hang the pic until the PF arrives.

My wife does cross-stitch and we use a local guy to frame those, so £50-£65 max for something extremely similar(if not exact) which is a comparable price to Sideshows offering, if I was in America I'd have just paid for it framed, but it has to come to Scotland which means the shipping cost is higher and having to pay customs tax on a frame on top of it, not to mention how fragile it can be...

Rolled in a tube's fine with me...

Re: Current discount codes at SSC and other random rumblings

Sandbox? Think invite only is the way to go. Much like the email list.
I'm assuming whoever sets up such a group can remove people?

Never called, use Live Chat, but highly doubt you need to give account information to access CS.
Also they can post as many disclaimers as they like but they won't translate to forums like this. Which, aparantly, is where the callers got their information from.

Re: Current discount codes at SSC and other random rumblings

While collecting for many years this is the first time I payed attention to spooktacular. Due to this thread I managed to get about $25-$30 in RP and I appreciate it. I am not self employed or do not have the luxury of sitting at a desk and wasting my employers time doing things I am not paid to do. I know persons here jest about the no sleep due to the codes, the actual thought that someone other than a young child would lose sleep over $5 is quite amusing to me. This fact that people did is the same reason SSC received complaints about the humorous fake codes. Thanks again for the contributors to this thread.

Re: Current discount codes at SSC and other random rumblings

I really dug your Thanos. I thought you and several others were up there. I honestly thought the Pred was the one to beat. Completely honored mine was chosen. I spent a good hour with my mouth on the floor. I've been staring at potential prizes but I think I'm more confused about what to get now than I was before. lol
I thought Thanos and Predator were both gonna win for sure, but I hadn't seen all of the entries yet. There were just WAAAAY too many good ones. I'm sure it was a tough decision for Chicky to pick. Your Clayface was truly amazing. The Smaug one was excellent as well. I don't remember the other winner, but they were all great. I'm just glad I didn't enter, since mine wouldn't have competed in the slightest! :lol Congrats on your win! :hi5:

Also the codes used capitalized letters but you had to type them in lower case and the SS code input box would show it capitalized and it would work. However if you used the shift key to capitalize the codes letters it would say it was an invalid code, happened on my computer and tablet. If people are used to using Upper and Lower case letters for passwords they might have done this like I did a couple of times until I realized what was happening.

Re: Current discount codes at SSC and other random rumblings

I don't see it as losing sleep for $5, it's losing sleep for a potential $70.
I'm up 'til 4am most nights anyway.

Re: Current discount codes at SSC and other random rumblings

I definitely would like to thank everyone that put an effort on here to get the codes out asap, it makes it real easy on someone like me who is always working. And to Sideshow's representatives who also gave away a ton of free rewards and merchandise.

Re: Current discount codes at SSC and other random rumblings

Really had a blast this year, as I have previous years. Didn't get to interact as much as I would have liked, but still. I got a bunch of rewards points and had a good time doing it. Can't complain. Thanks, SSC!!! :rock :rock :rock

Re: Current discount codes at SSC and other random rumblings

Do we know if they have announced all the winners to the contest on Facebook that were all random drawings on main sideshow page?

You give the fools who makes these types of call too much credit. They would read that and still call. I would assume most of the calls were from self entitled spoiled brats calling to demand to use codes that were already expired.
