:hi5:LOL. That's awesome Devil_666! That photo of Dredd - I had to skew it a bit in photoshop because lens distortion on my camera is so bad. So his proportions are a little weird if you look closely. The actual figure in hand looks way better.

I definitely think a "Battle Damaged" Peach Tree base would look rather amazing for this figure...possible bullet casings on the floor from that epic scene where Dredd outlives the barrage of bullets from Mama and her men. Some "SlowMo" cartridges on the floor. Maybe the base has a huge chunk of broken concrete on the floor where Dredd can have his leg raised like that epic movie poster pose you had him earlier in your thread :panic:

That's what stood out for me the most while watching Dredd, besides the slow mo drug scenes, was the art design from the building. Gritty and rundown with vibrant colors mixed in

Just an idea...but like TotalDom...I rarely use lighted bases also...but anything you come up with will be epic :)

Edit: just re-read my post above :lol I wrote it at 4am, trying to put my newborn back to sleep...not bad for a half asleep posting...I thought it would be total gibberish!

Thanks Pajji! I was also thinking of having a couple slow-mo cannisters laying around. :)

Just an idea-what about rooftop dio, like from posters?
1-20121226142440709.jpg

I thought about that Elar. But then I found out that the building they used in the poster is sort of a clipart building that's been used in a bunch of other movie posters. I think it was used in the "Daredevil" movie. So it's kind of generic. Plus it would be too big.

Love the base idea but I doubt most of us will use it as we display more than 1 figure per shelf. But that's my take

That's true. Maybe depending on cost... a base can be an add on option?

What if I just include a small "placard" that includes the crest mounted upright. You guys can just have it standing at the bast of Dredd's feet on the shelf. Would look nice and not take up as much shelf space as a stand. The placard would only be about 3 inches tall by 2 inches wide. and inch deep.

I don't really want to make pricing complicated so everyone either gets a stand/or placard; or not one if you guys prefer.

Thanks fellas! :hi5:

I'll most likely design a base with a scaled down footprint from the mock-up. It will feature the crest and will still be PeachTrees themed, but smaller.

Re: Custom "Dredd 3D" "Judge Dredd" Figure - WIP

I'm just hoping for bullet holes, cracked structures, and slow mo containers littering the ground near a pool of blood.

K... I'm getting carried away. :)

Re: Custom "Dredd 3D" "Judge Dredd" Figure - WIP

I started coming up with a list of some of the minor tweaks that I'll be making that will appear on the final production figure that I may not get around to for the prototype. Some of these items I may not get to depending on my schedule, but at least I'll have them itemized so that should I have time - I won't forget.

Tactical Vest:
- I'll make both the front and back parts more tapered along the sides going down towards the bottom.
- I'll also find a better material for the center zipper portion of the front. It's currently too bulky looking. This change will also help to taper the front more.
- I want to make new back bullet proof plates that are thinner and sit more flushed to the back. The current ones look cool but are still too bulky.

Utility Belt:
- I'll switch the way the belt attaches to the back of the vest. It will use two belt loops instead of the button snaps. I watched the movie again and Dredd only has the two button snaps during the fight with Chan - and that was a stunt double. So I want to change back to using belt loops.

Moto Jacket:
I'll alter the patterns so that the jacket fits slightly more loosely. It's tough with leather since they stretch over time. So now that I've seen how the current jacket has stretched on Dredd - I want the final jacket to be less tight fitting.

Moto Pants:
- I'm going to alter the patterns so that there is a little more slack in the thigh areas.
- I'll also add some piping detail to the back fanny part to match the movie pants.
- I relocate the slots for the knee pads to be a tad higher up on the legs.

Boots:
- I'll reduce the thickness of the shin guards so that they sit a tad more flushed with the lower legs.
- The main trunk of the boots will be tapered slightly more towards the ankles

Law Giver:
- I'll reduce the thickness of the ammo cartridge. Right now it is too wide which caused the gun holster to be too wide
- I'll replace the gun handle to match the one in the movie. This was always meant to be just a placeholder handle.
- Change the thickness of the gun holster to match the revised Law Giver.

Helmet:
- The top of the helmet needs to be a little more bulbous - with a noticeable squaring off. Right now - when seen from the front - the helmet is too round at the top.
- I'll reduce the height of both the Crest and the crest mount. And widen both (when seen from the front). This will match the movie helmet more.
- I'll round off the front surface of the crest a bit more so that it looks more rounded when seen from the side profile.

Gauntlets/hands (These are actually almost done so they will appear in the final prototype)
- Taper the gauntlets more towards the wrists
- Make the wrist straps a tad more thick
- Make the PDA unit in the left gauntlet smaller and less bulky
- Sculpted hands with knuckle studs and piping details

That should do it. These changes won't take long. They're just too much of a pain to do on the prototype at this point in the prototyping phase.

Holy cow. I'm here miserable with the flu, but you just really cheered me up!

This Dredd will easily be the centerpiece of my collection... but with your attention to detail I have a feeling it won't be the last amazing figure of yours I want haha.

Re: UPDATED WIP Custom "Dredd 3D" "Judge Dredd" Figure - Painted Un-helmeted HS VERSI

Olbert: I did see the email about Kaneda. I could probably do a really good leather replacement suit for him. I have that figure also. But I'm not sure when I would have time since I'm booked for the next few months. I'll revisit down the line. Remind me.

Great!
i knew you had the figure so i tought you would be in :)

Thank you guys for your support :hi5: Honestly. I myself am pretty excited about this figure. Not just because I'm a huge Judge Dredd fan from way back - or because I loved the movie. It's because this figure came out WAY better than I expected. The pictures I've been posting are from a camera with such a bad problem with lens distortion. When you guys get Dredd in hand - prepare to be surprised. He looks probably 50% better than the pictures.

Re: Custom "Dredd 3D" "Judge Dredd" Figure - WIP

I'm just waiting for the inevitable update of (Alright guys. I've never been to Peach Trees, but I bought some rags off some homeless people to make sure the base smells authentic. I also decided to use a mixture of my own blood and sweat on Dredd, but only on the body. For the outfit, I used another person's blood and tears.)

Re: Custom "Dredd 3D" "Judge Dredd" Figure - WIP

I already used my own blood on the red parts in Dredd's helmet :wink1::lol

Re: Custom "Dredd 3D" "Judge Dredd" Figure - WIP

Since it won't be a lighted base - the cost won't go up. I'm also scaling it down to be more of a placard with the Dredd badge/crest so that you guys can have it displayed at the feet of the figure.

Re: Custom "Dredd 3D" "Judge Dredd" Figure - WIP

IMPORTANT:

I was looking over the calendar for the next few months. I want to have the interest thread for Dredd up by the end of April. So far - there have been a total of 15 interested. These are people who reached out to me via email.

I think since I was originally only making 3 of these - including the prototype; I will cap these 15 pieces and consider them "pre-orders".

Pre-orders will have a shipping window of end of May to end of July.
I usually ship within 2 months, but this is the largest run I've ever accepted.

Pre-orders will get a 25% discount. I'm working up the cost now to get you guys the final price for the pre-order run. And will reduce 25% from that.

Second run will have a shipping window September and October. And will not include the 25% off.

After the interest thread is set up - I will begin producing the pre-order run and will need to ask for deposits. I usually don't, but again; at over 20 pieces - this is a much larger undertaking than my usual 3 - 5 pieces. So I'll need a deposit to help cover materials.

Deposits are fully refundable should I either fail to deliver - or you decide not to want the figure anymore. And other than the deposit; I don't require any payment until your specific figure is ready to ship. You can even cancel at that point and get your deposit back if you wish.

And if you need to make installment payments - let me know ahead of time.

All this information will also be on the interest thread at the end of the month.

Getting pretty excited about this.
Tin

25% discount... you're the best!

Any idea on deposit amount that you'll need to cover materials? And before end of July is even earlier than I thought! :D
