Dredd's elbow pads primed and mounted to the rubber base. The two rubber tabs at the top and bottom will tuck into the arm flaps. The two rubber tabs on the sides will serve as mounts for the band that will wrap around the arm.

Testing Dredd's elbow pads. They fit just as I anticipated. The top and bottom rubber tabs fit into the slots on the sleeves. I just need to make the leather strap that will go around the front - around the arm.

Here's some Dredd related stuff for a little change of pace. I recently bought this awesome limited edition volume of Brian Bolland Judge Dredd artwork. Limited to 350 copies - signed and numbered by Bolland and John Wagner. This thing is a brick. Comes with a huge book full of Bolland's Dredd work. And a portfolio of lithographs. All inside a heavy duty keepsake box.
And this weekend - I found this out of print hardcover of Bolland artwork in a comic shop for a nice $10. In pretty much mint condition. Published in 2006. An awesome large volume collecting Bolland's work. Some nice early works represented.
I plan to make a custom comic stylized Judge Dredd very soon. These will be good reference material.

Finished Dredd's elbow pads and mounted them to the figure. They look a little big in these pics, but they will balance out once Dredd has his shoulder pieces on.

Okay. Finally done with the rigging between the utility belt and Dredd's jacket. It's a pain in the *** to have real tiny belt loops - so I made some wired fake loops for the front. Basically leather strips with wiring that extend downwards from the bottom of the front of the vest. That way - I to attache the belt - I simply bend the wire loops up and around the belt. Pinching the wire loops keeps the belt nice and solid.
For the back - I made an extension of the back of the vest. I also wired this extension so that I can bend it back to wrap under and around the back of the belt. This holds the belt in place and hides the belt latch. I'm repainting the concussion bomb dispenser - and when it's done - it will sit right in the middle below the back vest plates just like in the movie.
The utility belt is also no 100% done with the addition of the knife hanging just next to the med kit.
Next up - Dredd's long awaited pants.

Wow. This is shaping up so well, the back armor looked humongous initially but as you said near completion and this thing is a gem.

Thanks annihilate22. It's tricky with Dredd because his gear is so bulky. And he has a lot of it on. There's a picture of Urban standing in the shade waiting between shoots and he's just got on the motorcycle suit. He looks tiny. But with all the other gear on - he looks huge.
So as I'm building my Dredd - I sort of have to keep a mental image of everything so that it all evens out in the end. I'm about to finish the shoulder pieces. Once I add those - you'll see how both the elbow pads and back plates shrink in appearance even more.
Then when I get the helmet done - that will REALLY balance everything out.

I usually take pics as I'm working on Dredd - and the lighting in my work area is pretty harsh. Here are some shots I took last night with better lighting.
