Custom Gladiator/Maximus figure?

Hi all,

I've been wanting to make a 1/6-scale maximus figure from the movie Gladiator for some time now. But I'm not that good at sculpting and creating stuff (like Maximus' armor etc).
I noticed on Ebay there's the seller Ironcrosshunter who sells 1/6-scale Gladiator parts (helmet, armor etc), and I was wondering whether anyone has bought any of those items from him, and if they're any good?

Oh, and any other tips to make a cool Maximus would be greatly appreciated!!

If you want a Russel Crowe headsculpt, Dragon Models made a Vietnam soldier called Russel that was a dead on Crowe head sculpt.

I found this online, don't know whose it is but it looks real good.

Hmm... Nice custom! I really like it and it gives me some inspiration to make my own. Been trying to find a sculpt that was good enough for a long time. Not enough good stuff for Maximus out there, have to make a lot of it from scratch.

Saw this custom Gladiator by a customizer named Dan Chung. He actually did 2 versions apparently (the original and a revised version). Pretty cool. Just scroll down to see the two versions.

If you want a Russel Crowe headsculpt, Dragon Models made a Vietnam soldier called Russel that was a dead on Crowe head sculpt.
I found this online, don't know whose it is but it looks real good.

Yeah, I've known about that Dan Chung Maximus for some time. It really rocks! But the guy doesn't sell head cast or anything, too bad...

While I haven't purchased the actual Gladiator parts from this seller, I did get the "Troy Achilles" figure from him. This is an amazing figure and the gear fitted to the Achilles figure is first class.

If the Gladiator parts are as good as the Troy parts, then you will be happy

As for the seller, I have purchased a few items from him with no troubles. Would highly recommend him.

A bit of thread ressurecting, but I'm finally going forward with my 1/6 Gladiator-project. I struggled for some time to find a good headsculpt, but with the Hot Toys US Forces Desert Operation Tiger Stripe Gunner, I finally had a good likeness, so I bought that headsculpt right away

But I'm not too sure what to use for the body. Since his arms and legs are exposed, I'd like something muscular, with hidden joints. So I was thinking of something like the HT Drake or Rambo body, but maybe those arms are a bit too muscular for Russell/Maximus? What do you guys think?

What other options are there for a body with hidden joints and a bit of muscular arms? I also found something like the BBI G1 muscular body, but I don't know if it's any good...

I've seen a good result using an Ignite sculpt - its even the right hair style.

I've bought a Constantine Holy Shotgun from Ironcrosshunter before and it is pretty nice. Well packaged and fairly quick shipping

I may have to pick up this HS as well. Really put some character to the roman fig I am working on.

I'd go with the Drake/Rambo/etc body. Its really not that massive, and I think would actually work pretty well for a Gladiator figure. I have a Drake for my Leonidas figure and its actually a bit too small for one of the 300.

Also the poseability is surprisingly good.

I agree, I think a Ramboo body would work good. Its not to bid for Maximus IMO.Perhaps a Rocky body would be better, since it has the muscular legs too. They have limited articulation, but its a fair exchange to cover the joints.
