Just so frakkin life-like Mikey. The sidesways glance on Legolas is the only figure I feel it really works for and Darren's resculpt is amazing.

Mikey Mikey Mikey....... That is just...

FABULOUS!!!

:bow :bow :bow

You live in New York right? If you still do we have GOT to get together for a coffee or something when me and Jane are there for a few days at the start of our honeymoon

YES! This must be so!

I don't know when you're coming into The City, but I'll be in CT on May 31st (fundraising concert), and I'll also be gone from June 21st to July 21st (playing Lancelot in Camelot). Other than that, my schedule is presently open! I'd love to meet you and Jane!

You are welcome to stop by my office in South Salt Lake anytime. :rock

OOOO I need to drop by and see! The Utah freaks need to do lunch or something soon; there are quite a few of us now and that would be nice.

Now let's get down to business. Yes yes Palpatine is amazing and Mikey should will a medal or something BUT! this Legolas is my favorite of all the works he has ever done. The skin tone is absolutely flawless, the hair color is perfect, and THOSE EYES!!! It's not just Legolas or Orlando Bloom--it's both, which is always THE HARDEST thing to get in a figure. I try not to covet things, what with the Ten Commandments and all that stuff, but I confess my sins here before you all right now--I covet that Legolas figure! Man I want one so badly! Augh it hurts just to look at it--standing next to my Les Faramir, it would make mine the most powerful display of 1:6 Lord of the Rings figures in the world!!!

You have surpassed yourself yet again. Congratulations!

Beware the power of the Ring Cap! :lol

Seriously though, Mikey is as good as ever with these Palpatine and Legolas shots. Obviously his absence hasn't effected his skills at all. Josh and Les may get the most attention now, but if Mikey keeps this up regularly now, there will be a deadly trio of awesome painters! :rock

:lol I fully own up to the fact that I've passed out of the public eye as a premiere painter on this board. That's okay. I don't mind passing the gauntlet to friends/colleagues as talented as Les and Josh. Along with Darren, there is already quite a trio of awesome painters.

I'm pleased to come in every now and then with something I'm proud of, gather up a few extra clients, paint for a while, then disappear for a couple of months while on an acting gig. :wacky

My goal is to finish all of my current commissions before I go to CT to play Lancelot in Camelot. The race is on, and I AM taking new commissions.

I'm humbled Mikey... You were and always will be the original Freaks Superpainter in my eyes. When I came in here, just starting out, with my very rough horror items, you helped get me started. And then Les came, and Darren. But to me, you'll remain the original. Who started it all for me. I was inspired by your work, so I picked up the brush and ran with it. Would never have happened had I not came to this board.

I do get bummed you aren't around as much anymore, but I'm happy that at least it is for a great purpose. It's awesome that your acting career is doing so well and that you have those jobs coming. And when you do peek in and show us your custom work, it always stuns. I for one am just happy to have this great, very large group of talented customizers and painters on this board. It's really amazing what it has evolved into. :rock

Thanks, Josh. :grouphug

Would you two like a room? :naughty

Good one Pix...

Well, I guess I just always feel odd when some of the painters are put higher than others on the "power scale", so to speak. I like to think of us all as having specialties that are all our own, different styles but similar quality. And I know I am not alone in missing Mikey around here. His take on things has always been cool and I love seeing his work. When it's missing... It's like Voltron missing a leg. :lol

The greatest thing is that if you jumbled up a bunch of different pics from various custom artists here, you could pick out the styles and most of the time name the customizer instantly. That rules. :rock

I don't think anyone tries to put any other painter here above one another, its just that some post and paint more often than others, thus getting more attention. Mikey can hold his own against anyone here, plus being the first painter here does give him a certain status.

Like you said, everyone has their own unique style, yet it works. I bet if all of you painted the same figure, they would all turn out different, yet all would be equally fantastic!

Well I am in a unique position (which only a few others on this board share) and that is the distinction of owning pieces painted by 3 the great ones and I can tell you (especiallu Mikey Palps... that sucker shows up good to close up photo scutiny) you are all masters of the brush and you are all GIANTS. :bow

Even I desire to one day own my very own Mikey repaint... I have work from Les and Hurricane, just need Mikey and Darren and I am set. :rock

I love the different styles. Mikey OWNS the Sith, no question. Darren is the best LOTR painter I have yet seen, Les is Predator/Aliens master... as well as being the best damn paint blender I have yet seen, and Hurricane takes Vader to another dimension of coolness.

After seeing the insane greatness that is your Palpatine, I might have to send mine to Mike as well. I think that would be the perfect one to have. It's my favorite of all time from Mikey. :rock
