Everything that wasn't a flashback was good stuff. Laurel... I so hope they're setting her up to be killed off because she can't be off this show fast enough for me. The whole thing grinds to a halt and really does turn into a cheesy CW teen drama anytime she's onscreen.

Except for the main support for the Hood, Walter is about the only auxillary character I really like. Glad to see him back and yeah, Laurel needs to be phased out. Her whole season 2 character consists of drama queening from episode to episode.

I didn't know Quentin was such an Toronto Argonauts/CFL fan. :rotfl I have to agree that the writers are really going out of their way to make Laurel downright unlikable. I have to admit that I was half expecting Mama Lance to break out some crazy judo moves when the league showed up. Another solid episode with some fantastic fight sequences. Nyssa was awesome. :naughty

Laurel is nice to look at but you might as well mute the show when she's onscreen this season. The actor that plays her dad annoys the hell out if me. He's the loudest breather on television. Every time he shows up he sounds like he ran 10 miles before he got there.

Anybody else notice Nyssa used the animated series pronunciation of Ra's? Everyone else on the show says it Nolan style.

Yup. :yess:

Also, I love the job that writers for the show are doing with world-building this season. There's soo many storylines that the writers can go with. The Moira turn seems so abrupt though, especially with what happened at the beginning of this season.

I know we've just been introduced to the "real" Black Canary and there hasn't been a whole lot of screen time with the two of them, but Katie had great chemistry with Amell last season and isn't hard to look at. I'd be willing to accept her as BC even if she doesn't look the part as much. Lotz looks fantastic though... hard to beat in that department.

I don't know. Caity is really killing it as Canary. Her fight scenes (I'm assuming that's her for the most part) look fluid really. It'd be hard to believe or buy into Katie being able to do that stuff. Even with (television) years of training. But the only way the writers could pull that off would be with a time-skip.

Yeah, she'd have to be a different kind of BC that's for sure. It really makes me wonder if this was the plan all along or was it a change going into this season. Everything from the CNRI law firm, to the Halloween fishnets reference, to the rekindled romance had me thinking she was a lock for the role. Interesting behind-the-scenes fodder.

The original intent had to be for Katie Cassidy to play Black Canary, it seemed pretty clear that's where they were heading. Why they changed the plan midstream, who knows? My guess is they realized that having a character with no real training fighting alongside another character who had gone through five years of hell to gain his skills just wasn't going to work, so they just brought Sara back from the dead and made her female Ollie, problem solved.

I thought tonight's episode was great! I love that Felicity just could not sink to Moira's level and said it pretty much immediately, and her motivation was solid. Nyssa was fantastic and I'd love to see her again. I really love what they've done with Black Canary. Her riding on the back of Ollie's cycle and then jumping onto the villain's van... great stuff! It is weird to see Alex Kingston trapped, though. I just expect her to River Song her way out of trouble on her own. LOL.

As far as Laurel becoming BC... I honestly just think they realized the actresses strengths did not lie there. There's a toughness to Sarah that Laurel just does not have. I suppose they could be grooming her to take over the mantle, but Ollie already has one trainee. Speaking of which, where the hell did he disappear this episode? I know there were plenty of other characters to juggle, but he should have at least been at Moria's speech.

Is it just me or does her mouth stay open alot and move a little wierd?

Yup, I just think they played to their strengths, they may have had laid that foundation, but they realized, it would never play to Ollie's level because "my dad was a cop remember, he taught me to fight" just doesn't cut whats needed on the show.

However they came up with this solution, it does work. Just a shame that Katie's character has been reduced to an afterschool special. There might still be a window of oppurtunity for her should she attain the actual Canary Cry (since they're up to doing meta stuff now).

I think she kinda looks cuter with the mask on. When she's plainclothes she seems to rely a little too much on the stern/angry look. Like others have said though, she looks great in action and suited up.

She was nice to look at in season 1 in season 2 she's a bag of bones.
