I think you must have mis-read my post? I didn't say the Laurel family flashbacks worked for me. I actually didn't say anything about them at all. LOL.

I can understand it, a bit. Don't get me wrong, the first season it was a fun way to set things up. But, as time has gone on I just find it starts to get in the way of the story I'm interested in the most, which is the here and now. At this point, we kind of know generally how things go for Ollie, Sarah and Slade. The biggest unknown is what happens to Ivo, I guess. So it's just less interesting to me. If they want to get it off the island and move to different locales maybe it'll breathe some life into the flashbacks.
i do agree on the now part. the present is starting to get intense and the Flashbacks are just alot of fillers for the last few episodes.

He was on the island for 5 years, the flashbacks have only covered about 18 months. They still have the whole Russian mob backstory.

My assumption there was that he was lying when he said he was on the island for 5 years. I mean, the Russian mob thing probably doesn't take place on the island, right? I guess I assumed he ended back up on the island somehow... although that could get a bit silly.

I like the flashbacks, I find everything on the island far more interesting than some of the present story lines like Laurel, Olivers mom/sister and Roy.

The first Russian he meets is in the cages on the ship. He visits this guy in the present to get information. I assume he will meet up again when he attempts to take the ship in the next few episodes.
If he does leave the island, he finds his way back at some point because he is rescued from the island.

So apparently Black Canary and Huntress are going to interact in a future episode this season... :D

Birds of Prey :rock

You said you're fine with any other locale /time of flashbacks after saying you're over the island. The only other flashback was Laurel's family and you didn't say you had a problem with them.

I said SOME not ANY. If I wasn't clear, apologies, but I meant if they want to keep the flashback structure, but have Ollie go off the island for a while and hook up with the Russian mob, maybe train somewhere else, whatever... as long as he ends up back at the island to be rescued. I just think I'd get bored of years and years of various things happening in a jungle. At no point was I referencing the Laurel family flashbacks. Though, for the record, I didn't mind them. I would have liked them more if I bought the Laurel/Sara sister relationship, which I just don't yet. I did think it was interesting to see Moira have to deliver the news for character and drama reasons, though.

It was recently revealed that the sixteenth episode of Arrow: Season 2 would be called “Suicide Squad” and now the first photos of the Arrow incarnation of that DC Comics team have been released.

CBR have debuted the photos, along with the exact lineup of character who will be part of the Suicide Squad. Like in the comics, the group is led by Amanda Waller (Cynthia Addai-Robinson), and we’d already seen her recruit Bronze Tiger (Michael Jai White) in a recent episode. The full lineup also includes Shrapnel (Sean Maher), Deadshot (Michael Rowe) and none other than John Diggle (David Ramsey) and his old ally, Lyla Michaels (Audrey Marie Anderson).

Arrow executive producer Andrew Kreisberg recently spoke about the “Suicide Squad” episode, remarking, “You know, Dig was our way into Amanda Waller. In this episode, Amanda comes to Dig and Lyla and she basically recruits Dig for a mission and tells him that he's going to need a team. She saddles him with the Suicide Squad, including Floyd Lawton [Deadshot].”

Episode 16 will be very Diggle-centric, with EP Marc Guggenheim noting, “Again, we’re going back to the idea that things are laid in one season and paid off in another. In episode 14 of last year, Diggle told Felicity this story about how he saved the life of this warlord, a guy named Golam Kadir. Well, in episode 16, the flashbacks will be told from Diggle's perspective in Afghanistan, saving the life of Golam Kadir.”

Kreisberg also revealed, “The coolest part is we actually have Ben Browder back, who played Dig's former commanding officer, who is a villain in the present day - but back in the old days he was just Dig's commanding officer. A special shout-out to Ben Browder, because he actually took a significant pay cut to do this, because this episode was getting out of hand financially, and he just said, 'You guys are cool guys, and I had fun.’ So he is a great guy.”

Added Guggenheim, “He is awesome in this episode. It's so much fun to see him play -- obviously he's playing the same character, just like the way Stephen plays Island Oliver and present-day Oliver -- but Ben is bringing this nice little subtle difference to the flashback, especially in his relationship with Diggle. They're commanding officer and subordinate, but they're still friends, and you see that closeness that was all just talked about in episode 11 from last year. So it's a treat for us.”

Arrow: "Suicide Squad" airs March 19 on The CW.

I'm glad to see Diggle getting a big showcase since he has been underutilized. I was hoping Michael Jai White would have a more prominent superhero role but he's always fun to watch. Sean Maher is so tiny next to all of them.

I have this feeling now that Ra's will be kept back for season 3, since Liam Neeson highlighted the character to the non-comic book reading universe he's become a massive entity and must be too big for a guest slot. At most i could see him appearing in a season finale cliff hanger setting it up for the following season, As for Batman appearing, ive said before it would be great just to have Bruce Wayne in Starling City on business dropping hints to Oliver about his alter-ego.

I'd actually love to see their version of Batman at odds with Oliver over his murderous, albeit reformed ways. I just can't even fathom how Arrow-verse's Batman would function in combat, as The Arrow's probably had nowhere near the amount of combat experience and is pretty much an ultimate badass.

I really wish the new Gotham TV show wasn't set back in time before Batman. I'd love a Gotham PD show set during Batman's reign, but I'd really like a Batman TV show that was concurrent with the PD show and Arrow. Since they are making a mess of the films, they could at least have a better TV series of series than Marvel. :dunno

Finally, just finished S1. I've still got a long way to catch up, but I'm getting there!:yess:

They easily have better TV than marvel at the moment but Marvel seems to be learning from DC tv, where as DC isn't learning from Marvel's theatrical success.
Lets get it together boys.

I can't say I've been the biggest fan of the outfit designs (Deadshot for example) but they are improving that slowly (Deathstroke v2 for example) and that is really the only thing about the show I've really disliked. Its like they are trying to remain Nolan realistic, but the super strength serum really throws that out the window. They might as well get more flamboyant with the outfits now. Deadshot really needs a mask at least. The laser eye patch just isn't working for me.

Marvel really hasn't had much need in the outfit department with everyone being SHIELD agents in suits, but their storyline has been a snoozefest. Hopefully things will pick up there. So I do have to hand it to DC for having better TV at the moment, but Marvel is kicking their butts so hard in the films its not even funny. I think if DC was smart, they'd make their TV and films in the same universe like Marvel.
