How can anyone hate on his best costume ever?:gah:
You are letting your nostalgia cloud your judgment, methinks ;)

Pouches, leg straps, wacky shoulder strap thing, leather jacket = fugly

Not that the pirate boots on the Byrne/Cockrum incarnation make a lot of sense, or that it makes sense in general for guys to run around wearing tight blue spandex with yellow undies over them, but there are degrees of sillyness, IMO.

THIS IS A REALLY HORRIBLE MADELMAN,PLEASE SIDESHOW MAKE A GRIAL LIKE CAPTAIN OR THOR!!!!!!!!!!!!!

GO OUT THIS VISOR!!!!!

It all depends when you started reading comics.. I think SS is doing the wise thing. look at the target age groups.

Bryne-era 35+ years old reading comics at that time
Jim lee era- 25-35 years old
Modern era - 20-25 year old. (kids that have no money to buy collectibles) The only way that have money is if they live at home and pay no rent.

Look at the age group of the forums i'm guessing 25-35. JIM LEE = $$$$

Sorry those poses are ghey. The costume are boring, if you like that style im sure you love the movie adaptations also, which work for film. But not for comics, and COMIC BOOKS!...

I would buy a Luke cage in a yellow pimp shirt, big hair and a giant chain around his neck.... Then some random BLACK GUY dressed in jeans and a t-shirt. Heck i see Luke cage everyday!. What i'm saying is this keep this line for people who read comics and keep it classic. The thing with older costumes is that they tell a story, the designs show off and highlight the characters super powers. New modern designs have stripped those characteristics, which kinda sucks.

I don't completely agree with your age break-down, Wookie. I am 30 and am most fond of the X-Men comics from the pre-Lee period of the mid-late 80s (when I started reading). Lee didn't come into the scene until I was 9 or 10 (I think). I understand that many folks my age got into X-Men during Lee's period and when the cartoon came out, but not all. And certainly, many 25 year olds are probably too young to have encountered Lee, just like many folks my age didn't get into comics at the early age that I did.

I do think the newer focus on "modern, realistic" designs kind of sucks, though.

This will be the 1/5 scale pose and costume for the comiquette line! That's the modern X-MEN line. SS should just make this exact same pose and costume. The comiquette would look great!:exactly: Sorry about your PF guys. Jim Lee's Cyke costume design was horrible.

looks great!!! i would bet the exclusive is the jacket. i hope the visor lights up!

I think you are mixing up your eras. The modern comiquette will NOT sport the 90's bomber jacket as an EX! But...a light up visor or an unmasked head would make a kick a$$ EX. More than likely though...we will get a fantastic print instead.:slap

Yea this pose/pics will be awesome with the Colossus comiquette. I do hope they make it light-up.

Yeah i'm 30 also and i loved the Bryne/Clairmont stuff also. That story line is so awesome, and wouldn't mind characters to be that style also. What i don't want is modern designs... the costumes are so boring and they all look the same.

Why begin at Byrne? Cyclops was created in the 60's, you know, and Byrne didn't design the costume! LOL

Thanks,

BB

Agreed! :exactly:
I can't believe people are complaining about the Jim Lee costume. It isn't my favorite, but it is his most recognizable, it is still very cool, and if Sideshow made a bryne costume, people would complain that it wasn't Lee's. All the comments about how realistic all the pockets are or the yellow underwear are absurd. Look at Ms Marvel, how many women want to run around and fight crime in a thong? Why does Captain America have wings on his head? Why does Gambit wear a trenchcoat that would impede his mobility? CLUEBAT: it is a comic book.

Anyone who doesn't say that this PF is great should get out of this thread and go buy some Marvel Universe toys.
