Good to hear the positive reviews about this. Just one question: My 8 year old son wants to watch this. Do you think its appropriate? He watches SHIELD, The Flash, and Gotham. Just curious.

Thanks.

After watching 2 episodes i find that the show is pretty bloody and brutal. A lot of bones being snapped and protruding out of the flesh! I love it, but i dunno if a 8 year old kid should be watching that.

I don't know what kind/how much violence and death he's been exposed to thus far...but this show in very violent. I'd watch it yourself first then decide to allow him too. Spider put it well. And the end of ep 3 took it to another level. On ep 4 now.

I would say no. There's no nudity (at least from what I've seen so far, on episode 10), but there's some foul language and like the poster above me said, lots and lots of graphic gore. Bones breaking through skin, head's being smashed off by car doors with bits of brain remaining, etc. :lol

With how graphic this show is I wonder how they would/could ever tie it into the films. He certainly couldn't be brought into the film universe.

Damn. Seriously? :lol I just recently saw an ad for it and planned on giving it a shot. Im not into any those other comic oriented shows but I figured this was Netflix so Id see if it was any good. I love Daredevil. Or rather, there are certain runs and storylines I love.

Thanks alot for all the info guys. I'll take a watch first, but based on what you all have said, I won't let him watch it.

I agree with the previous posters. The show is fantastic! But it is too dark and violent for kids. There are some disturbing images and thematic elements way above their understanding. You are making a good decision.

Simple, you parallel them. Hell's Kitchen isn't the Helicarrier. It'd be no different than when someone interacts with Batman and his gritty Gotham. There is a lot of ripe contradiction and juxtaposition between the lighter, brighter characters and Daredevil. Superior Iron Man interacted Tony and Matt nicely.

They'll figure out a way. The Punisher is coming back too

The Punisher would work perfectly with this incarnation. He crosses the lines that Matt won't.

I wouldn't let my 7 year old, nearly 8, watch it.

Yeah, this is an adult series. I'm shocked at just how violent it is and makes me wish that Netflix handled all of the Marvel series from here on out.

The cast did phenomenally and I was sad when it was over. It is THE BEST Superhero show out there, makes you forget about the Affleck movie, makes you really cringe at some of the Agents of SHIELD stuff (and I like this show) and seriously makes me want Netflix handling all shows. The hardest sell will be Jessica Jones but this show definitely set up the connections nicely to the rest even Iron Fist and connected to the Marvel Cinematic Universe without being in your face about it.

The folks at Gotham could learn from this crew of making connections subtly. I loved this show so much.

I haven't seen every episode yet. But I don't see how a hero who will shove shards of glass into peoples chests and necks to get information and will throw people from rooftops allowing them to fall can be placed next to Captain America in a film and have them coexist. They would have to remove so much from DD character to have him appear in the same light as the film heroes. Having already seen how DD is in the TVMCU I feel like a lighter version of that same character in a film would cause a disconnect.

I think it really depends on the kid. The violence is brutal, but quick, for the most part, but I definitely recommend vetting the series, because there are a few strong, drawn out, and very violent confrontations that you'd probably be better off skipping with an 8 year old (particularly in episodes 4 and 8). Outside of that, how do you feel about language? There are a lot of "b**ches" and "d*cks," and the like, but there are no "F-bombs" or "C-words," as they say, and there's no *** or nudity of any sort.

The other thing to keep in mind is about his attention span. There are a surprising amount of subtitled sequences. Chinese, Japanese, Spanish, Russian, and even Braile!:lol It's no problem for an adult, but is that something you can see your son following regularly? All in all, I think it's an awesome representation of the seedier side of the MCU, and, as a whole, it's definitely a show for adults, but I think that, depending on your sensibilities, you could probably "edit" down the more gratuitous sequences, and make it, at the very least, "safe" for a child.

best signature I've seen so far

I started this today and made it through episode 5. I absolutely love this show. It is so dark, gritty, and violet that i feel like I'm watching an AMC or FX show. That is a refreshing change for Marvel.

Another thing i absolutely love is the cinematography.
the hallway fight when he goes to save the kid is just amazing. I love how the camera stayed in the hallway the whole time.

Also the camera panning around in the taxi cab was very cool. I love the centralized camera idea.

Watched first 2 episodes last night and have to echo most of the sentiment here:

It's really, damn good.

Dark and brutal story with helpful flashbacks filling in some gaps. At times it almost feels like Year One Batman meets Law and Order meets Taken (specifically episode 2). Enjoyed Rosario Dawson as Claire Temple....I'm hooked. :rock

Anyone up to the drug factory raid episode yet? I got my friend in that one as an extra so I wanna let him know which one it was. :wink1:

I'm on episode 10, now, and, watching Fisk at the benefit, I've realized that he really reminds me of DeVito's Penguin, when speaking in public. Not his look or his voice or anything, but just his manner of speaking, he's got that same stiltedness, and, while I love the way he's characterized, I couldn't, for the life of me, place what it reminded me of, until now.
