Re: DarkArtist's Creations of DOOM!

Any chance for a teaser or an update? :monkey3

Pics tonight for sure. I took a weekend off of commission projects, to paint my Predator figure. I just needed a break and something to rejuvenate my creative juices, so I took a few days to myself. But I have the in work stuff and will post pics tonight of the Obi's, Ven's stuff and Pix stuff as well. :rock

Re: DarkArtist's Creations of DOOM!

Ok, finished my Predator. The pics make it look a little flat and less colorful than it really is. But yeah, I suck at taking pics. :lol

I also have a pic of some requested in work stuff.

Re: DarkArtist's Creations of DOOM!

I've allways loved your Han repaints. I'll need to give it a go myself when I eventualy get around to getting one myself :) It's amazing what a little bit of added color to the hair will do. :D

Re: DarkArtist's Creations of DOOM!

Re: DarkArtist's Creations of DOOM!

Awesome PRedator repaint Josh and I am also delighted to see Wolverine's head on the table. :rock :rock

Re: DarkArtist's Creations of DOOM!

Thanks everyone! I am having a blast painting and hoping to get a lot done this week as well. Trying to get a lot of stuff out to people before Thanksgiving. :rock

Re: DarkArtist's Creations of DOOM!

Good news guys! Tonight I got a lot of that middle ground work done on the skin tones of at least 10 heads tonight. That would be the dark lights in the cracks and crevices. It's coming along nicely, I think by the end of the week we should have at least 80% of the work on my table finished. :rock

And great news for those who missed out on the Spooktacular Subject 560 EX. I turned a regular into the EX with just a suit change and some major blood. Will post pics tomorrow. Waaaay too tired to do it now. :lol

Re: DarkArtist's Creations of DOOM!

That is a beautiful Predator, man!

Could you walk us through what you did to him?

Thanks! Yeah, I can do a quick walkthrough!

I put the figure together and first mixed a cream color to paint the base of the figure's skin tone. I painted the front torso, biceps and forearms, forehead and legs entirely cream. I then went over that with Burnt Sienna for the start of his spots, did a few layers here and there to get a nice dept. I came back with Burnt Umber for a few dark areas on his shoulders and back as well as the bottoms of the legs. Lastly I painted black dots from the dark to the light as the colors faded together. Lots of attention was paid to the chest and abs as well as the arms and legs to get a nice pattern as well as a good color fade.

I finished up by redoing the cream and brown markings on the brow and upper mouth area and painted the same layers as the body on the forehead, using Les' example as reference. I sealed the body and pulled on the net.

I painted the armor a goldish bronze and added some blue green corrosion in the grooves, blending it with black in areas to get a nice old look. I finished off with a quick highlight of bronze to make it pop.

Also did some layers on the hand and feet ridges, to try and match the reference I had... which was not much. :lol

But that was it. Took me two days and a lot of learning to get it done, but it was a nice break from skin tones. :rock

Re: DarkArtist's Creations of DOOM!

WOW!! That was a lot of work for 2 days. And it all paid off, that Predator is a piece of art!

How does the repainted head work with the helmet? Is there a danger of damaging the paint job?

Thanks man! I really love my Predator, can't wait to tackle the Pred 2 Elder when it comes. As for the mask, it doesn't mess up the paint apps at all. That sealer works wonders, you have to come at it with something pretty harsh to damage it.

Tonight I finished my "Stairwell Fight" Bond, Almost finished a Wolverine for Venny and am coming ever closer to getting these Obi Wan heads finished and out of my sight. lol

Also finally took pics of my "cheater" Spooktacular edition 560.
