Re: DarkArtist's Creations of DOOM!

I hope so too Josh, I know I say it every single year... but damn... I really want it to happen eventually. :monkey2

Anyhoo, I got my Myers coverall sets today... and MAN... they are awesome. When they are dyed, it's going to ROCK!

Just make yourself set aside 10% of every commisson/repaint aside, and soon enough, you'll have yourself a nice amount set aside for SDCC. And only dip into in extreme emergencies, like when the next Hot Toys TDK figure is announced :lol

Dude, they rule... they are so damn accurate it isn't funny. Wait until I get it done, you will seriously ^^^^. :lol

And tonight I finally got the casts all done and cleaned up. Will be painting tomorrow and putting hair on by Wednesday. :rock

Very cool, can't wait to see the first fully custom built Myers (since yours and Blakes used the SSC overalls).

Re: DarkArtist's Creations of DOOM!

Any pics of the coveralls? Just curious the differences between them and the SS Michaels, to see if I need to invest in some. You sound too stoked for me to leave that alone on mine.

Here it is... pre dye job...

It's a great set... but we all know how limited Saturday Toys tends to be. They did have a Blue set available too, but now only Cotswold Collectibles has it. But seeing as though Michael wore Charcoal coveralls, dying is better.

The unique thing about the color was that under certain lighting it looked green, sometimes blue, sometimes gray. So it's really up to interpretation.

I recently watched Halloween again in the spirit of things and there really is no consistent shade in the movie. I'd say grey-green is probably most accurrate, seen plenty of other instances of mechanics wearing that shade. The only times it really seemed blue were the night shots but there was a blue tint to pretty much everything at that point, but outside stalking Laurie and Tommy it was definitely a grey-green mix, particularly because of oil and grease stains on it too. I think McFarlane and NECA went with blue as a marketing choice as blue would probably be more appealing, and it represents him towards the end of the film from the more Michael heavy scenes. I actually prefer the grey-green look, feels more true and it's so muted it also has a nice 70s feel to it. Another reason why the SSC figure never appealed to me, weird mask, odd fit to the overalls and a bizarre color that didn't seem right at all.

Re: DarkArtist's Creations of DOOM!

Why was the 7" MacFarlane Michael toy in blue ones then? I never have known for sure what the color was...

I think it was just a marketing choice because of the ambiguity of the true color. Like Josh said, it comes through as like 2-3 different colors throughout the movie. I'll post some screens later showing the various colors of Michael. I think McFarlane and the likes also probably took cues from the jumpsuit being blue in the sequels because their figures came out after them. Even in H20, Michael's jumpsuit was an olive green shade which really shows a strong attempt to reflect H1 and H2 in that sequel.

Re: DarkArtist's Creations of DOOM!

I'm gonna be getting a Josh Joker!! :rock

LoL. I can't ait for mine either.

So Josh, while we all know your's is the elite model. What are you thoughts on the Hot Toys version ? ANd has it prompted you to revisit anything you have done to date on yours ?

Re: DarkArtist's Creations of DOOM!

As Sean said, the suit has been something the fans have debated for years. I have heard that it was JC Penney's "Big Mac" coveralls that were used in Halloween 1. They were supposedly the Charcoal shade... which can look green, blue or gray depending on lighting. Most of the time they look like a greenish gray. I used them for my Myers costume and these Saturday Toys jumpsuits accurately replicate them. :rock

And DK2K, I love the HT Joker. My own custom head is and will always be an icon in my lineup. Something I absolutely love and feel that I did great with what I had available, but of course it has inaccuracies that need to be adjusted... hence the lateness of my current batch. I'm confident that my jacketless and coatless Joker is on par with the HT version for sure, no doubt about it. But HT tailoring is much better than my own and their coat RULES.

The Joker figure is undergoing revisions... I'm giving him striped pants, more accurate shoes and trying to do a card for each figure. So that should be fixed by the time I complete the Joker after next. :lol

Not to mention, Halloween was an independent film shot in the 70's, so color quality will vary from camera to camera as well as transfers and degredation of the film over the years. The good news is, you almost can't go wrong, any of the shades you see on screen will do.

Thanks! And great news as well... the parts are already on order. Tomorrow I am going to be painting shirts and attempting to finish a few more full figures with what parts I have here.

I'm very honored to be doing this for you too! :duff
