Re: DarkArtist's Creations of DOOM!

Thanks a lot guys! And yes, there will be a lineup pic posted tomorrow night when I get off. I want to finish these guys tomorrow night, no ifs ands or buts. I will post the progression for you guys. The jumpsuits are holding due to lack of money for the dye, Damn Davy Jones hit my account and I didn't have time to cancel him before SSC closed for the weekend. Hence my sale... :lol

But, they will be getting dyed ASAP at the beginning of the week and will be shipping out a LOAD of stuff all over the place by next weekend. :duff

And Sean, it does look like fate has smiled upon my Myers project. I can't wait to score some more jumpsuits and start hoarding them. :lol

Re: DarkArtist's Creations of DOOM!

Thanks for keeping the thread alive guys! Work has been Hell these last few days... LOOOONG hours for Indy... But I am going to be finishing up the Myers heads tonight and continuing on some Joker shirts and a few regular heads for Orbitingx... Try to get as much done as I can before I hit the sack and back to work tomorrow... :google

Glad to hear all is well bro.

You know we will always keep you up there ! You deserve it !

I am sure you are glad this weekend is over.

Can't wait to see what you have in store. :banana

Re: DarkArtist's Creations of DOOM!

hey josh, has indy been the busiest film for you then this year? are you expecting there'll be more people for dark knight?

ps. do i owe you some money for posting stuff? i completely forgot if i needed to send you some funds for the return voyage. let me know.

Re: DarkArtist's Creations of DOOM!

Josh must be catching up on some sleep !!!! ;)

:lol You can say that again... yesterday was just hectic, it was my day off, but I slept in and the Wife sent me on errands in the afternoon. And my hands hurt something awful, damn brooms and butlers. :monkey2

I have to work tonight, but it is a short easy shift... I dyed the Myers suits yesterday, not quite the color I wanted... but close enough... after weathering they will be fine. So pics forthcoming on those, hope to finish them tonight. Wasn't able to do much more.

But I have tomorrow off... so here's hoping I will have some stuff to show off. :rock

Re: DarkArtist's Creations of DOOM!

Ok, finally I have a few pics to show... It's not much, but at least it's progress. Today was rough. I was in one of my black moods for some reason. Just realized how much I hate my job and situation at this moment. It's really killing my drive and my art, so it hit me pretty hard today...

But thankfully, good news is around the bend! Financial Aid came around at long last, so I will be getting money for not only the Summer semester but the last one as well. So at least I can go back to school and cut back my work hours at the theater... as it will solely exist to give me spending money and free movie tickets. :D

Anyway... on to the few pics I DO have. Took a few last night, this is the shot of my first dyed jumpsuit. I sanded it, haven't weathered it fully or done any washes yet. And the resin knife is unpainted... but it's coming along. I WILL finish them tomorrow, right after I ship out a whole mess of stuff.

Re: DarkArtist's Creations of DOOM!

WOW ! :rock
You mentioned you weren't 100% happy with the color of the suit but I actually prefer it to be honest. That looks fabulous.
Great to here you have a financial aid on the way , always is great to know some money is coming ! :lol.
Keep up the great work Josh , I can't wait to do a video for this guy ! :rock

Re: DarkArtist's Creations of DOOM!

Jumpsuit looks great already Bro. Def make a run of these and sell some off on Ebay, get the money train rolling!

Congrats on the aid package too. And Rock on!

Looks great Josh, but looks even better considering things are turning around ! Glad to see that most of all.

Congrats bro.

Re: DarkArtist's Creations of DOOM!

Thanks a lot guys! The jumpsuit was a tough one. First, the dye worked on the suit.. but left the stitching tan in color. So I had to go over each stitch by hand and color it with a sharpie to get it dark. And the suits are pretty stiff already, I thought the dye and water would soften them a bit... but they didn't. So to get it to look natural on the body, I did my sanding once the body was wearing it. It makes for more realistic wear and tear and creates folds in the fabric that look nice and real. :rock

Today I am shipping a whole mess of stuff, but once I get back... it's Myers time.

Well your efforts and craftsmanship are most appreciated. It's amazing to discuss the production of stuff with you and Les, neither one of you will settle for anything short of your best effort on a piece, and that makes the time they take all the worthwhile because you're getting the best you can. Can't wait to see the first finished Michael with your custom jumpsuit, the costume is as much a trademark of his look as the mask, and the headless figure looks really nice, damn near like a movie still already.

Re: DarkArtist's Creations of DOOM!

Thanks Sean... I like sharing the ups and downs of a figure with you guys, there are always pitfalls and compromise when you make a figure. Something interesting always seems to happen. :lol

I'm just really glad the knife mold worked. I wasn't sure how it would turn out. It's hard to mold small items like that, and since it was so long... it had to be a HUGE mold for this tiny knife. But it worked! The hands I chose though, don't like to hold the knife too well.. but what can you do? :banghead

Re: DarkArtist's Creations of DOOM!

Coveralls look perfect. This is going to be the definitive 1/6 Michael Myers fans have been waiting so long for.

Re: DarkArtist's Creations of DOOM!

Eh, the knife will be just fine, and in a pinch, I can use those little rubber elastics from Hasbro figures. Ever since Rebelscum's trick to "tuck" Anakin's sleeve into his glove, I save all those little elastics I get, they're useful and being clear, can go unnoticed, I used one to help Jabba hold his glass for a while.

I'm glad you take the time to share the ins and outs of what you do, I'm always fascinated with see how things are done, from movies to figures. I know some people prefer "magic and mystery" to how it's done, but I'm a collector where I like to appreciate all the work put into a piece, which is why I never do MIB collecting, and the more I can learn about what went into it, the more appreciation I have for the end result.

Did you have to mod the jumpsuit to get the front open like it is or does it just work that way? It looks perfect way the collar flips up around the neck and just a slight opening to see the neck and undershirt.

Re: DarkArtist's Creations of DOOM!

The jumpsuit does that all by itself! Which is why it's so perfect. When I saw pics online and saw the cut of the suit, I knew it would work out exactly the way I wanted it to. You can close up the neck with the collar up, to get the Halloween 2 look... OR... leave it open with the collar up, to get that peek of neck and undershirt for the original look. It's PERFECT.

As soon as I get some more money piled up, I will be buying up as many of these as I can find... just to make sure I have them for Myers figures in the future. :rock

Re: DarkArtist's Creations of DOOM!

Heating the hand up and pushing the fingers in closer and letting them cool into position should solve the knife holding problem.
