Re: DarkArtist's Creations of DOOM!

Hey guys... working like crazy over here... I wanted to share with you guys the Halloween 2 Michael Myers Prototype. Hope you all like it, I worked really hard to try and replicate that iconic "Warlock" style and look that I love so much.

FANTASTIC! This just looks creepy/frigtening. Much better than the original SS version.

Re: DarkArtist's Creations of DOOM!

Not the best pic in the world, but I feel it is still one of the greatest compiments I can give Josh and Les.

Les repaint is on the left.
Factory paint in the middle.
Josh's repaint is on the right.

I think it is clear these two are amazing at what they do. Even more amazing is they both shrunk their skills down 50% to this 6" figure. I'm proud to own these two figures :rock

Re: DarkArtist's Creations of DOOM!

Sorry to derail here....

Has DA or Les ever done a repaint of the SS Ash figure? Another thread on the board got me thinking about how much I truly despise that sculpt, and who knows....maybe it's just the paint apps.

Re: DarkArtist's Creations of DOOM!

Re: DarkArtist's Creations of DOOM!

Some shots of Josh's amazing Halloween and Fri 13th figure custom works!
The H1 and Jason6 is mine. The rest are some of your's!
That's his custom H1 and H2, J5 Roy, an older repainted and reworked SS J6 and hisJ8

Here you can see the eye work on them a bit more...

We had a great visit. Hope you can see how cool his custom Michaels and Jasons are. I am proud to have my two. The Jason5 Roy and J8 masks are HIS casts and paints also. LOVE those two masks. He did a GREAT job on them! Total scale details and all. The aging is amazing!
The head on the Roy and the others underneath each are wicked also

Great works Josh! Honored to get to hold and review them bro! :rock

More shots to come soon!

Re: DarkArtist's Creations of DOOM!

The eyes on Roy in that second pic peering through the mask are super creepy.

H1 Myers :drool:drool:drool:drool

Re: DarkArtist's Creations of DOOM!

Thanks for the shots, Les! It was awesome to see you and to hang out. I will treasure my Jackal as well... Thank you so much for that, it really stunned me and my Wife loved it. :rock

I'll post pics for the guys here soon.

Our talks this weekend were really profound, and got me thinking about my art style. It's a reflection of who I am and what I have gone through. Many bad things happened to me throughout my life and I think that my personality and my artwork has to shine bright to peer through the dark haze. My work is stark and linear, a reflection of my early artwork and a look into the vault where I lock away my painful emotions.

Sadly, not much of my figure work really lets me get that out... some do.. but not most of it. I really want to pursue some canvas, to paint again. And once I DO catch up, I hope to do more original works.

Hanging out with Les is less about learning technical skills and more about analyzing what it means to be an artist and a customizer... not to mention just spending time with a friend. Our conversations span from love's lost, film, classic artwork, history, psychology and the stresses that only 100 heads on your table can bring. :lol

I am thankful to have him as a friend and thankful to my customers for allowing me to take this weekend off from my mountain of work.

As always, a trip to his house rejuvenates me and puts me back on track artistically... so those awaiting work... prepare to be dazzled. :rock

Shots incoming, expect pics tomorrow!

Re: DarkArtist's Creations of DOOM!

Awesome Josh! You know, you mention having a rough past but there is nothing about you that shows signs of it! You seem like a very cool and happy guy!

Good for you, as said before its always an honor having your work on my shelves, a great artist and person alike!

Can't wait for the Myers! :banana

Re: DarkArtist's Creations of DOOM!

Great seeing that line-up of Josh's custom horror figures... although it makes the wait for the H1 Myers and Roy even more painful :monkey2

Re: DarkArtist's Creations of DOOM!

Got my Leia head in the mail this week.

This repaint is simply amazing! So much better than I imagined it would be. Now I just need to get Jabba and Salacious repainted and I will be set. :)

Here's the only good pic I could get of Leia. More pics later if I can get some good light and the cats allow it.

leia01.jpg

the cats would probably allow it more if you didnt pose her in front of the scratching post.
:lol

Shhh. Its the most dramatic backdrop I could find in the house. Don't kill the illusion that it could be B'omarr ruins somewhere along the dunes of Tatooine. :D

Re: DarkArtist's Creations of DOOM!

:lol Good one Shropt!

I just got my Hot Toys Joker today, not a bad figure. Coat is a bit dark and the head needs a repaint... but overall.. pretty sweet figure.

Finished Snake Sucker's Joker head, will post pics later. I went with the pencil trick scene because I have long wanted to try it. Turned out really badass. :rock

Can't wait to see Snake Sucker's Joker or your repainted Hot Toys Joker! Les just posted his and I can't wait to see your results with the head. Ledger IS in there. Just needs some work to get him out of that sculpt! I have no doubt you will be able to as well :rock

Re: DarkArtist's Creations of DOOM!

Here ya go Buttmunch... here is the HT Joker, but with a twist... I took pics with my head that I painted for Snake Sucker, The DCD Les head, AND the repainted HT. Enjoy!

I do realize now, and it's been corrected... that the HT needed some skin tone blended under his bottom lip, so it's there now.. just not in these pics.

Re: DarkArtist's Creations of DOOM!

I also touched up my HT Wolf today when it arrived.. just a bit more color on the head itself and spots here and there... also a dark wash on the mask and steel drybrushing...
