Very nice Mikey!!! Good to see Jack too, seriously one of the best I ever did. :D

Cool to see him in a good home.

Very cool mikey... and Josh, that Jack of yours is simply phenomenal brother, seriously amazing work... I think it may be the best work you've done (yet), it is a masterwork up there with any EVER done and I mean that, it's beautiful.

... I also met JD a few weeks ago at a photoshoot at my cousin's studio here in Hollywood, VERY nice guy...

Man if Medicom's Jack looked like that out of the box I'd get it in a heartbeat. I'm so close to giving in right now  Stupid DVD coming out tommorrow isn't going to help (BTW Best Buy will have an exclusive bounus DVD to go with it).

Re: DarkArtist's Creations of DOOM!

Wow guys... Seriously I appreciate every word. That Jack was a labor of love, I was very sad to see it go. maybe one day I can do another one, as I now know techniques that could make it even better.

The clothing was the most fun, as I just love weathering. :D

Re: DarkArtist's Creations of DOOM!

Well, it was seriously so complex I can hardly remember...

I do remember that I soaked the shirt and sash in a coffee cup full of watered down brown paint, very watered down, almost like dark tea. I then wringed them out and layed them out to dry. The pants I soaked in regular water, as well as the vest. I took all of the belts and "leather" parts and drybrushed them with varying shades of brown to get a more realistic look, and did the same to the boots. I did a lighter mix of brown for this, to show up and make it look a bit more dirty.

The face I did like always, just did the fleshtone, painted the eyes and facial hair. I did a few layers on the hair, dark brown as the base and lighter brown on top to give it more depth. I then drybrushed a little off-white on the headband to get that "out in the sun" faded look....

And voila... instant Jack! :lol

Not a problem.... Model Master Acrylic, Warm Skin Tone and Light Skin Tone. Use varying shades of those two, ending with a mixture of them both... Works wonders....

Wow Mike!!! Nice to see Obi in the authentic costume!!! Rock on! :rock

Good work yourself!! And I am glad you are pleased...

Re: DarkArtist's Creations of DOOM!

Nice Jedi Mike. I saw that you had posted these pics at RS and wondered if that was a Josh paintjob (way to go Josh!). I was wondering though, why did you decide to go with the Kenner robe? Have you tried the Sideshow Obi-Wan robes?

Re: DarkArtist's Creations of DOOM!

Actually Jedi Mike, I am with you on using the Hasbro ObiWan robes for this figure!
I have my own custom Ep IV Obi Wan, and that Hasbro robe has that all-important old Obi-Wan pointy hood, and it looks great too, so I can see why you would use it. All the SS hood tops droop some, like the movies they are from of course, but in Ep IV, and I would think a 3.5, I think the point is totally appropo. Looks super!

That's my two cents at any rate.

Great paint Josh. But, you know that! :D

Yeah thats what I figured. I guess since Anakin's force ghost was a strictly hood down kinda guy it would be OK for my force-ghost Anakin kit bash to be posed with his Sideshow hood instead of the Masterpiece Anakin robe.

Again DA that really is an awesome headsculpt and kudos to Jedi Mike for coming up with such a creative kit-bash alternative. :duff

Re: DarkArtist's Creations of DOOM!

Thanks everyone but DA is really the one who gets the kudos here, the paintjob is amazing, its greatness doesn't even come off in photos. I can't wait to begin our next project together. As for the hood, the only thing about the Hasbro hood I didn't like is that its too light, ANH Obi should have a darker robe but I did like the point and the SSC hoods can do that but in all reality the point is amazingly large...I decided to stick with this one and I absolutely love it. ROTS Obi is boxed up right now because I'm in the middle of a move but I'll take it out this weekend and post side by sides. Oh and Josh, please PM me your info again so we can get the next one up and running. :rock

Re: DarkArtist's Creations of DOOM!

Obi 3.5 came out great, and he looks great with the Habro costume!!! Very cool custom to own Jedi Mike!!!

Re: DarkArtist's Creations of DOOM!

Thanks guys... This one was a labor of love and I am very pleased to see that Mike likes him so much. I had a blast working on it, and the eyes really got me... seriously one of the best sets of peepers I have ever painted... I'm very proud of this one.

And you will have a PM in just a moment Mike!:D
