Re: DarkArtist's Creations of DOOM!

Thanks Nash! Yeah the Stormie is coming along.... And I'm glad that you like the Anakin... I tried to give him that pissed off look but still have him be the "good" Anakin.... It was tricky...

I think you've got the best Anakin lips I have yet done... much more realistic in color, AND it's my first time with my new eyebrow technique... to great effect as well.

Lots of nice firsts on that head. Thanks for giving me the chance to work on him.

Re: DarkArtist's Creations of DOOM!

what are you trying to make the stormie to look like?

Re: DarkArtist's Creations of DOOM!

It's that Black Hole Stormtrooper that Hasbro made.

Re: DarkArtist's Creations of DOOM!

Yeah, I thought it would be kinda fun to make a Black Hole Stormtrooper out of my vinyl statue.... Should be pretty cool when it's finished.. but give me time... :D

Re: DarkArtist's Creations of DOOM!

Ok guys... not much in the repaint dept to show you right now... so I thought I would post some of my old drawings and stuff... Most of this is circa 1999-2004... Enjoy!

Is the last one in your first post a self portrait!?!?!?:lol:lol

Great stuff Josh. Really like the Aragorn pic.

And the one to your Mom is awesome! Truly!

Re: DarkArtist's Creations of DOOM!

I think I need to explain the tombstone one... At one point I was going to try and attend the Joe Kubert School of Graphic and Cartooning art, and needed some comic pages to send with my portfolio... So I decided to do something more personal, something that meant a great deal to me...

I went with this idea of a a mourning son visiting his mother's grave and then having flashbacks throughout the day as he goes from sadness to joy. It was called "Mother's Day" and it was all for my mother. I used pics of myself to draw the main character and even sketched my mother's gravestone to get the detail right. It ended up being a wonderful comic page and maybe one day I will do the rest of the story.. but for now... I only have page one...

Thanks Chase! Yeah, the pic of me in the snow is a self portrait I did of myself in Sequioa National Park... I loved that pic.

I really appreciate the comments man... These all mean a lot to me.. Some of the best art I ever did. :lol

Re: DarkArtist's Creations of DOOM!

The drawing are great. When I look at all the drawing and repaints everyone does here makes me wonder what I could do agian. The more stuff I see the more inspired I am becoming to get back into art.

Re: DarkArtist's Creations of DOOM!

Thanks man.... Yeah, I seriously need to draw some more as well... It's fun but time consuming...:lol

And oddly enough... This site was what reignited the artistic drive in me. I started painting figures and the rest is history... I couldn't stop now if I wanted to.

why not? My brother and I just got into sculpting.

Re: DarkArtist's Creations of DOOM!

I would love to try my hand at sculpting especially 1/6 styled figures but I don't know where to start....

Re: DarkArtist's Creations of DOOM!

I would suggest sculpting the head with some modeling clay first and once you have finished and it has cured you will need to cast it with resin and then pour your resin into the negative mold to cast your duplicate headsculpt. I did that once with a Hasbro figure. It's not too difficult but it was messy and the materials were kind of expensive.

Re: DarkArtist's Creations of DOOM!

Clay strinks too much as it dries. I would try sculpy.

Re: DarkArtist's Creations of DOOM!

Rock on!! I just watched Clone Wars Volume 2 for inspiration.... I can't wait to do this.... I loved that tattoo design....:rock:rock:rock

Re: DarkArtist's Creations of DOOM!

Josh, I thought you might appreciate this, since it's your figure. I personally like using the Sideshow bases. I think they add to the display and I like the security of knowing he can't shelf dive, so I made this base for your Capt. Jack.
