Re: DarkArtist's Creations of DOOM!

Just got Ill Jedi's Hicks and thought I would share a shot with you guys. It's funny to see the original figure after having my repaint on the shelf for a little while..... :lol

I can't wait for mine to look like the one on the right! :rock :rock :rock

Re: DarkArtist's Creations of DOOM!

Awesome... Brings back many fond memories of a sequel that didn't surpase its original-- but rather took it in an entirely different and fantastic direction. Great Hicks.

Re: DarkArtist's Creations of DOOM!

Man, that is one SERIOUS change. Didn't realise that it was so drastic.

Dude, I cannot wait to see what you do with Jim Kelly & the others...

SO EXCITED!!!!!!!!!

Re: DarkArtist's Creations of DOOM!

Hey DA, any updates on Jabba? I seem to remember a while back you saying that you would customize your Hutt.

Re: DarkArtist's Creations of DOOM!

Hey Josh...
I see you did a DarkArtist on your Hicks BDU's. What did you do specifically? Do some watered down paint on the attire, in place, or did you do all that before putting him together?
And combined with the armor weathering, he looks SO MUCH better!

Amazing difference. All I see now, on mine, is the unfinishment....he needs some DarkArtist treatment! SOON! :D

I noticed the same thing, I like the 'dirty' look much better! Will that cost me extra Josh?

Thanks guys!!

To answer your question Les, I did paint the clothing to make it look a little more worn and in use. I used to wear BDU's on the boat in the Navy and my pants got very dirty even after one day of use. And funny enough, only in the spots not covered by my tool pouch or camel back. :lol

So for Hicks I took the same approach. I didn't soak the entire outfit, but did the same wash over the entire set of armor and on the exposed clothing. That way, under the armor you have "clean spots"... where dirt would never get through. It just looks more realistic to me that way.

And Ill.... no extra charge. ;)

the difference is just obvious.
your repaint job makes it a 1:6 replica while the hot toys is just a 1:6 doll.
:)
nice work, i ssee you even repainted the armor!

Re: DarkArtist's Creations of DOOM!

Amazing work DA! I just went through your photobucket pictures and damn that is fine work. I especially love the HT's Supes paint job, wish mine looked that good! Again awesome and keep up the fantastic work! :rock2

Wow....thanks guys....

Seriously I just try my best to make it look realistic. And having been in the military I know our combat used equipment looks like Hell. It looks like it's been tossed around and used as oil rags... just harsh. It never looks pristine. So I wanted to bring that to life on my Marines. The armor, clothes, even the weapons.... all weathered to Hell and back.

Re: DarkArtist's Creations of DOOM!

Your work is as awesome as ever Josh!!!

I may have to send my Hicks.

I think I'll send you Hicks and Kyle Reese to repaint.

And Les I'll send Ripley and Vasquez.

Gotta spread the love!!!

I gotta get Aragorn done too. He looked okay all by himself, but now that I have Legolas and Boromir beside him he looks like ass:lol

And how is Rambo coming?

(And if you want Ripley any taller...better send her to me in toto too! "We can rebuild her, make her more amazonian..." :D )

Thanks Les!! Yeah, it's been crazy here... packing, prep work, tuxes, money, so much to do... And yet still I stress about my repaints... :lol

I hope to get some time tomorrow night to get some done... but we will see... I have a lot piling up and not much work is getting done. I'm looking forward to some spare time after the cruise, so maybe I will bang out some stuff then.

Anyhoo... expect pics of Something soon. :rock:rock:rock

LOTS of cool projects in the future.
