Darkchilde Comiquette

First time I recieved such an email. Their desperation is showing.

Anyone else get this in their email yesterday (a whole day after receiving the newsletter)? Sideshow trying to push it? I personally don't recall them spotlighting one item the day after a newsletter before.

Yea that marketing email does kinda show that SS maybe sweating bullets with the recent sales/demand on some of these previously released statues. That said IMO rather than pushing a comiquette like Darkchilde, who has a smaller fan base than a more known character that lots of collectors want, they are fighting an up hill battle. Not to knock SS because I own and love a lot of thief statues, but they have to listen to the fans if they want to keep on keeping on.

They seem to be kicking out many duds recently, losing touch with their collectors.

I got one of those for the Angel Comiquette. That's the one I remember being the first.

I didn't need much convincing with the upcoming angel comiquete because I dig the character and love the pose/wingspan. But Darkchilde just made me think WTF. Great for those who like her but to me she looks like a hot chick with red donkey legs. And I usually want every SS marvel statue. Total pass for me.

Agreed NY. I don't think they are in danger of being out out if business cause they have the potential to put out amazing pieces, like the Thor PF. But what it really comes down to is do you want to be a statue maker or the best in the business. The best in the business requires more attention to it's customers/fans and a continued importance on pushing the level of quality.

Hey if you were wanting a Darkchilde statue, enjoy and congrats. That said if Sideshow was expecting it to be a must have for collectors then they are sadly mistaken. It does hit a niche market and there are pluses and minuses to that approach.

The plus is obvious and it hits the niche fans market who get what they've always wanted. Minus is they don't sell all their stock and have to deal with the repercussions of that, which can vary depending on how bad the gap is between the supply and demand.

As a collector I don't think anyone doesn't want to see a statue get made...because we are all fans and if we could would have them all. BUT it only makes sense that Sideshow listen to the heart of it's collectors and provide the statues it knows people want first and then meet the niche market demands.

It's only smart for Sideshow and collectors as a whole.

In short enjoy your Darkchilde but seriously think if there is any other statue you would have preferred were made first...that is the let down some collectors are feeling.

Well then other collectors should get over the selfishness. I certainly don't begrudge any other collector when a statue I don't wish to have in my collection gets made over a character i personally would have preferred. Of course you don't have to agree...but thats what a forum is all about. People talking about their passions and interest and opinions. No one SHOULD be taking those comments as a direct shot at others think if it's contrary to their beliefs. Point being if you wanted Darkchilde, praise SS for providing it to you now. If not then you can be disappointed and hope your dream statue gets made next or wonder how the statues SS makes are decided upon. There are no shots being taken.

I agree with you fborecki, unless I am actually friends with any name on the screen, there is no way I could take any comment as a direct shot/pointed remark, not in my genetic make-up. I agree with you fborecki, unless I am actually friends with any name on the screen, there is no way I could take any comment as a direct shot/pointed remark, not in my genetic make-up. Exactly grphyx1. Everyone has different interests and none are more important than others. I'm 100% happy for anyone who gets their dream statues made (as are most of us collectors) and will naturally await impatiently for those on my personal list to get made. It's all love man...
