The sculpt is overworked, with too much exaggeration and detail that goes beyond what we see in the real actor/character. Too much artistic interpretation and not enough attention to the source. You can see it in the exaggerated heaviness of the brow and the deeply textured acne-scarred skin detail. It looks like another actor wearing a Karloff mask. Actually it looks like Karloff's monster coked-up with Bernie Wrightson's illustrations of the creature! Maybe not a bad way to artistically inspire the likeness, but I would have preferred singular accuracy to Karloff's likeness. Well, whatever, I'm still buying it because here we are, this is what they're giving us, and I have all of KP's other monsters with no intention to quit now.

Glad to see the standard version has everything I need without any crucial extras or accessories lacking. Rolling eyes aren't a huge buying point for me and I don't need the diorama pieces for the price hike. I can't believe the exclusive doesn't have side walls. It looks a bit stupid to have just two prop walls without flanking pieces to make a contained unit.

I would have liked an alternate head sculpt because KP was always keen on packing those with their previous figures - Karloff's use of pantomime was a big part of making this role great since the character was mostly wordless, and that acting brilliance left the monster with many memorable facial expressions. Even one more (angry) sculpt would have really celebrated Karloff's performance and made this the real definitive 1:6 figure of the character. I do love the special locking knee joint innovation! That's an important detail for this character and something I've been trying to achieve in posing other figures recently.

I think this will be another Sideshow order for me. I got my Hammer set from Sideshow about 3 months before Infinite shipped theirs. The only concern is the tariffs now.

So looking at the KP site it says under the price VAT included. Does that mean it's built into the £265 and we won't be charged more once it reaches the UK?

Another £110 for a wall and chair or over £300 more for a door, chair and wall seems crazy to me. Just glad the standard figure comes with everything I need.

Rolling eyes aren't a huge buying point for me

I REALLY wish their Nosferatu figure had rolling eyes. The exaggerated side-eye they went with really limits the figure's articulation options

I was hoping for Sean Dabbs to sculpt this one, as I think he has better ability to capture likeness..
But oh well, this is what we have currently and the best 1/6 Frankenstein’s monster figure so far..
If the exclusive version is not limited to web purchase only, then I might get that one.

Otherwise, it would be crazy to order direct the exclusive from KP as the shipping will be bloody hell expensive.

I have all three of their Toshiro Mifune figures. They are all outstanding but the monochrome statue is much more impressive.

The overall package is incredible. The side body shot is spot on. The door facade is a must.

I do agree that the head sculpt is overdetailed and really doesn't look like Boris at all. Sideshow's Son of Frankenstein sculpt has long been my favorite. And while less detailed, it captures Boris Karloff's portrayal in that movie quite well.

It's definitely over-textured, but it'll soften when released. I agree that the brow ridge is overexaggerated, but I think the Karloff likeness is there, especially from the front. In a way, this reminds me of the Nosferatu figure, which doesn't look exactly like Max Schreck's version. They took some creative liberties.
I'll be going with the regular version. No space for the dioramas! He's going to look so badass paired with the Bride (I hope she goes up for preorder soon as well)

That's true, I had forgotten how their Nosferatu's side-eye was an off-putting misplay of design. Frankenstein's monster simply needs the classic dead-focus centre-stare eyes under the heavy half-shut eyelids.

I don't like rolling eyes because it just adds more mechanical parts that could be faulty or prone to damage and the feature sometimes adversely affects the sculpt of the eyes. I hate fiddling with those little sticks in the back and can't stand crossed-eyes that aren't tracking/focussing naturally! Most times I never arrive upon a satisfying eye position, so I opt for the most simple and uncomplicated straight gaze. An eye position that could have easily been part of the sculptors and painters chosen design.

KP is new to rolling eye mechanisms, so they'll have to prove they can make it work without any problems. I don't want to buy a figure only to find that the eye mechanisms are faulty. Even InArt had some issues with their rolling eyes being crossed or not operating correctly. Hence, rolling eyes are not a big selling feature for me.

Incidentally, Infinite Statue is terrible with customer support, so if you have a problem you'll have to live with it. I had a small affordably fixable issue with one of my orders, contacted Infinite about it, but they never responded. Six months later and I'm confident they'll never resolve it.

They haven’t done any black and white versions of Dracula, Nosferatu, or the Phantom so there’s no reason to believe they’re going to start with Frankenstein.

The green color is partially accurate. The face paint used in the films was green as it portrayed a deathly pallor better on screen. While I don’t believe they intended the Monster to have literal green skin, it become pop culture iconic and it’s the expected color now.

Karloff's home movies goofing around on the set of Son of Frankenstein confirm Jack Pierce's flesh paint used on the Monster was green. How it showed on screen is ok, I reckon for folks who prefer it.

I never understood the appeal of monochromatic paint schemes. Primarily because , even though the films were not in color, it doesn't mean what was being filmed wasn't. Plus, monochromatic looks bland to me, unless it's done exceptionally well. It can be done, mind you....but as a personal preference, I prefer color.

P.S., they seem to sell better too. Here's a pic of Karloff fooling about as a reference to actual color palette.
