Hey, I get your update emails and ALWAYS go check out your latest stuff. Good thing to do. Always keeps us posted. Commented on some of your work too! :rock Nice site Darren.

I just posted this on my website, so I figured I'd copy and paste it here as well

I've had a few messages from customers recently who said that they had missed some posts I made showing new customs, because they hadn't been to the website for a while. Well there is no need to ever miss a new custom or post ever again!

If you look to the right you'll see a box where you can enter your email address. Once you have gone through this (I've even done it myself), every time I make a new post on this website.. you'll be sent a short email telling you that I've made a new post. It even gives you the title of the post so you can decide whether you think it's something you may be interested in or not.

Why not give it a try... lots already have, and it will mean you are always up to date on my latest custom figures, or any other notifications (ebay auctions etc)

ok, there you go.... no need to ever miss or be late seeing any of my customs or website posts :)

Love this Darren makes me think im behind a waterfall and I totally have a spot in mind in my house

Thanks Les, I'm glad the email notice function is being useful to people... I just thought i'd point it out after a few emails from people saying they didn't know I'd posted anything new. It's been good of you to leave comments too... always gives me a smile. :rock

I have some news that you might be interested in the Saturday Toys Biker Set has been reissued. Thought that you might want to know that there will only be a limited number made this time.

abake - sculpting and painting kept me away for a while, and even though i'm no less busy I'm just trying to stick my head up once in a while. :)

ian - thanks for that. I bought a couple off eBay last week (annoyingly paid double what they went for from a different seller a few days later) so I've got enough to cover my current full figure commissions. I'd buy as many as I could lay my hands on if I didn't have this wedding and honeymoon coming up so soon. I think I'd best wait now till after I'm back before I spend any money on anything else :lol

thanks for the heads up though :rock

whilst waiting for some paint to dry on some heads I started taking pics of my next figure to go under the hammer after Jedi Luke next week... and it's this little fella

I forgot to take any 'before' pics, so I apologise to whomever this pic belongs to... but it was the closest one to how my figure loooked in terms of paint job, accuracy etc. (i'm hosting it myself, so don't worry about bandwidth)

I was actually happy with my Maul as it came, even though it wasn't as 'evil' looking as the Medicom... I liked the straight ahead look, you could get some good poses with it. I guess after a while my usual 'wanting to tinker' set in... and i repainted it

Once I started I realised you couldnt get a good eye direction because of the sleepy way the eyes were sculpted.... and not having the time to do anything about that, I just did some sneaky painting to widen the eyes (painting over the eyelids)

Also I reshaped most of the facial tatoos... just to be a bit closer to how they were on screen.

Anyway.... a couple of pics (and I had my polariser filter on by mistake so there are no reflections on the second image, which is why it looks like i've done something to it... I havent, its just the filter took away any reflected light)

I'll do some better ones when i have time at the weekend maybe, and do a vid if I can make the time.

OMG! Darren that looks insane! Al you did was re-paint it?

Darthrazz.... no sculpting, just the paint trickery. I'm sure one day I'll actually resculpt the eyes to be wider, because other than that the rest of the sculpt is absolutely spot on, but for now painting over the edges of the eye is the best way to acheive that look. I'll take some super close pics to show how it was done, and to show what it looks like when you study it close in person..... but that pic above is pretty much what you see when you look at it on the shelf from normal distance.

superdoug - glad to be of use :)

Thanks for the comments guys.... Old Ben pics coming tomorrow, as long as the varnish is dry.

Oh, and I know I said Jedi Luke was probably going for auction last week... but I went to get it all together... and couldn't find my Sideshow box, lol. And that had the accessories and extra clothes in.... so there was no way I could even take the rest of the pics without it. And this was the first figure I bought.... so it was a lonnnng time ago, I'm not surprised I couldnt find it.

Anyway, after a day or looking through THE WHOLE HOUSE.... and giving up, I asked jane for some help the day after, and... ask expected... she looked for 10 minutes with me and found it straight away.... somewhere I already looked. Typical.

So anyway Jedi Luke, (as long as I get the photos taken and video made in time) will be going up soon :)

Excellent repaint Darren. You've made the character even more life-like, he looks more menacing now. Best painter in da house!:rock

Women are always house savvy, good thing she's your soon-to-be wife. :)

Just sent you an email my friend.

Keep up the good work!

thanks guys :bow :bow :bow

(and yeah.... if I ever can't find anything, at least I know Jane will be able to for me :lol )

Good lord, just when you think these figures are the greatest thing since sliced bread, you go and make them look almost alive!!!!
Y'know, if I wouldn't have a headless figure on my shelves for months, I'd send you every frickin sideshow sculpt for repainting!!!!
Maybe while you are in the states I could kidnap you and keep you locked up untill all my figs have been repainted! I live in Florida, so Jane would have plenty to do while you are slaving away! Tempting? Hmmmm? Hmmmm?
:)
