You make some good points there.
To me (just personally that is) it seems that the reason not a lot of people are going to have these things is the price more than there's just not a lot of them. Same reason not everyone owns a Lamborghini, its not so much the limited run, its justifying the price tag to the "average person"

You aren't going to have 4 neighbors with PF figures because to 95% of the people these (while they may look cool) are just overpriced "toys".

Good debate going though. I like reading the other POVs

As do I, and it doesn't take long to see that there are a good number of significantly different collecting philosophies. :peace It probably has a good bit to do with one's collecting background; be it beginning with sports cards, action figures, one-of-a-kind movie prop replicas (or acutal props for that matter), art prints vs. originals, museum pieces (fossils, gems) and on and on. You see it really isn't so cut and dry, I try to understand the other perspective, being a more egalitarian view; but my collecting experience hasn't come out of that mentality.

Sideshow's decision to increase the ES on this piece really makes me wonder why they also didn't decide to up the ES for the PZ EX.

I mean, there was a complete outcry from horror fans about not being able to score that piece!

Not all of them! :joy

They only upped the regular - *cough* International Exclusive.

My order is intact. In fact I just can't keep from looking at her :naughty:google:naughty:google:naughty

Yup, I say up the ES on the EX so that the "real fans" can pay full retail price for it from Sideshow and then I can buy off for $100 less in a year or so when the "real fans" sell it for a loss. :lol See how idiotic that sounds?

For me, this has nothing to do with flipping; it is simply stupid to be excited to pay full retail price for something that will inevitably be available for less on the secondary market.

I have the EX on order, but I don't know whether or not I will keep it.

Everything in the world that you buy depreciates. Expecting anything to appreciate is nothing more than scalping. It is a simple truth that can not be denied.

not everything.

property values appreciate; skyrockets in some prime areas, as a matter of fact. well at least it does in my part of the world. that's nothing to do with "scalping". people live in their houses for decades, then when they sell them off, the new market prices are significantly higher than the price they bought it for.

but if you're talking strictly about "collectibles", then i could cite stuff like stamp collections. years ago, my brother sold off his stamp collection for a pretty penny. he didn't really wanna let it go out of sentimentality, but had to for practical reasons. again, that's nothing to do with scalping. the value appreciated simply because there was a demand, and he happened to benefit from it.

Glad someone else responded to his post because I was going to let it go; I am so tired of the flipping, ES, greed, blah debate. Seriously trying to compare someone wanting a higher-end collectible to hold its value to someone who purchases with the sole intent to make an immediate profit is silliness that can't be denied.

Tyler, I completely agree with you that this has more to do with a collecting philosophy than anything else. In my mind, there is a difference between a $7 Star Wars action figure and a $200+ statue.

By the way, I am on the lookout for a Han Solo PF (ES 2500) that now sells for $90-$140 on eBay if anyone is looking to sell. :peace

I'm getting this one, but I wish I could get the PF maul so I could pair them together.
