Re: Darth Vader life-size Bust

I wonder if they detailed the inside of the helmet?

True to ROTJ it would not be. I'm torn, visually it'd be something to have all that detail, but, I'm sure that would drive the price up considerably and for the few times you'd really stop to look at it, I don't think it'd be worth paying more, as long as the details you'd see long term are there and look nice, that's what I'm most concerned with, those alone should be pretty costly.

Re: Darth Vader life-size Bust

This looks incredible, a must have.
Looks like the T-600 1:1 bust just got axed from my want list.

Re: Darth Vader life-size Bust

The head tilt reminds me of when he's looking over at the Emperor before he tosses him.

And people could dirty up his helmet! i don't know how his helmet got dirty in that duel anyway

Re: Darth Vader life-size Bust

I like the idea of him not looking straight forward... bit of attitude in the pose adds a lot to it IMO.

Re: Darth Vader life-size Bust

I like the tilt, I just wish it were the other direction for my display ideas :lol

Although, while very unlikely, given that you wouldn't see the neck inside, how could would it be if there was a jointed neck so you could turn the head whatever direction you wanted.

Re: Darth Vader life-size Bust

I'm glad Gino came into this thread. Sideshow just never gets Vader right, and even in this large scale, the inaccuracies are glaring. The helmet shape is the most obvious thing. The silver clips shouldn't be visible. Can't wait for Gino to post side by sides.

Re: Darth Vader life-size Bust

I wasn't going to post any critique/comments as I didn't want people to think that I have an axe to grind (which I genuinely don't). Not to mention, when I posted in the 1:6 vader thread, I upset a lot of people even thought that was not my intention.

Here is what I think of this piece.
If you compare it to the last company who did it (I forget their name), this new one blows it out of the water.
It is a nice 'representation' of vader.

I would like to point out though, that there were two reveal masks, one in ESB, and one in ROTJ. The faceplate separated in different places. Also, in the films, Vader doesn't wear a cape while in his meditation chamber.

If you are looking for something that is authentic to what was used on set for the film, then this piece is not for you. MANY aspects are off, or just plain wrong.

I know that the target demo for this piece is not the 'prop collector', but I just fail to see why pieces couldn't be made to a higher standard that would satisfy that group as well (or at least satisfy it more so). It surely wouldn't cost any more.
It would only take the right connections (cough) and a company willing and able to recognize the value in faithful accurate products.

Just for the record, here is my bust. It is ESB authentic and derived directly from real screen used pieces. A ROTJ could just as easily be done.
Of course, for my display, it is not a reveal piece.

There are more pics of this bust on my site.

Now that is what I am talking about. Nice Gino :)

Re: Darth Vader life-size Bust

well considering Gino doesn't sell his vaders, I am truly grateful to SS for making my dream come true. Sideshow :clap:clap

Re: Darth Vader life-size Bust

I wonder if the rumors about CM become reality...I would love both but would only be able to get one...and am leaning towards this awesome piece.

Re: Darth Vader life-size Bust

WOW!:horror
I have got to get this no matter the cost!
He'll look great with my Palpatine,Grievous and Greedo busts!
Any clue when this thing is going up for sale?
Will there be pre-order?
:vader is a must have!

The video gave me chills!

Re: Darth Vader life-size Bust

There's a little difference between a collectible and a replica of a screen used piece. You never saw the collar studs when Vader was masked in the film because Prowse wasn't wearing that collar when in full helmet. You have to compromise to make something like this that is the best of all worlds with the full helmet AND the 2 stage reveal.

Re: Darth Vader life-size Bust

This looks amazing, I just hope this doesn't suffer from the QC issues that plagued IM bust and the MR Vader Dome...also I hope to god SS is finally using Glass Eyes for this bust, the painted eyes on the other busts look so dead and lifeless..

Re: Darth Vader life-size Bust

I appreciate that, but take a look at the exhibit vaders.
Most of them aren't even screen used costumes but rather promotional suits that don't match what was used on screen.

Here's a quick comparison of mine next to one of the exhibit vaders, and for kicks, mine next to the old licensed vader figure.

.

For what it's worth it was meant as a complement to show how impressive and accurate your's are, not some tourist's snapshots. In hindsight they look more like professionally photographed promotional pictures. Either way it was meant to show your work in a positive light.
