There is some logic to Sideshow not making the effort to redesign the stand or have designed it in the first place to have the bottom of the mask. If I were designing it all, I wouldn't necessarily think to because putting a fully assembled mask next to a bust where in theory, part of that mask is on the bust would look strange. If they had changed the stand, I'd probably have displayed the helmet somewhere away from the bust to have it be like 2 pieces, where with the actual design, you can display it all together and make sense.

That is also true... we'll see which custom stand they'll make and then decide... well us regulars LOL...

A 1:1 reveal and a 1:1 mask. Win-Win! :rock

Hopefully some good stands will be created before I get Vader since I probably don't have any creative skills on modifying my own.

Since I just ordered my Vader on FLEX, it'll be a few months down the road before I actually get him. :(

Lol... I'm in the same boat. This is why I'm actually supporting the idea of people copying the SS stand.

I'm going to display mine with the mask on but wouldn't mind getting an alternative and a secondary option as a stand.

That's why I started this thread at RPF:

Sideshow life-size Darth Vader bust - custom stand

So if you are getting a regular and/or if you are a RPF member just post your opinion in that thread. I already talked at Statue Forum, Rebelscum and here by PM with many members who seem interested in this but they don't have a RPF account (yet).

The idea is to gather as many people and fans as possible to ask for these custom stands, thus convincing talented prop makers to join our case and make custom Vader stands.

What do you guys think about a modified paper towel holder as a stand? That back part looks adjustable, so it might be able to add some extra support to the back of Vader's helmet.

I'm using that exact paper towel holder for my Stormtrooper helmet in black. I got it for $8 on clearance at Wal-mart and I love it. So shiny. :)

I would definitely be interested in a custom stand that included a neck piece. Of course part of that would be price dependent and how the finished product turned out, but definitely interested.

How sturdy is it? Think it'll hold the polystone weight of Vader's two-piece mask?

I have to doubt the Vader helmet is made of polystone, but my helmet weighs a good 2 or 3 pounds.

The good part about this particular paper holder is the wide top for better stability. This should be able to hold a good couple pounds.

I'm guessing Vader's facemask might be polystone and the outer helmet might be plastic/fiberglass, but I guess we'll know soon.

That's one of the reasons I liked the look of this holder. It has a big top compared to most.

Just note that the top part spins. I just put a piece of normal tape around it to stop it from spinning.

Here are some (bad sorry, lighting) pix of mine

Here are some pix of mine that just came in today. Regular edition. Sorry for the bad color, not much light in here today.

Yup, putting him where my Maul bust currently is would put him about actual height for Vader, tall as me about.

That he is. Pretty big. Especially with the full mask on. Goes up to the numbers on my Marino TD jersey which is not small. Again sorry for the color.
