thats what I meant !! thanks for posting ! Im sure he will light up as well.. PLUS .. you can avoid the strange pose from Sideshow and do something more vader like as seen in the catalog

This Vader looks like he's kyphotic. ;)

actually Vader kind of is.... makes me wonder what you call the Sideshow Vader ?

I'd call the Sideshow piece the better figure. Also, Vader is most definitely not kyphotic. Lol. He's supposed to have a neck which the HT piece seems to lack. Anyway, why are we discussing the HT piece in the Sideshow thread?

we talking about the Vader from Sideshow compared to the same scale character from HT.. dont see why it couldn't be discussed in this thread ? Admin please correct me if I am wrong..

Thanks for this. I agree that based on this picture alone, the Sideshow PF looks better. I don't mind the pose but I can understand why others might not like it.

I'm new to anything much larger than 1/12 scale and so when I busted out the tape measurer to see how tall the Sideshow PF Vader would be I was shocked. I don't even know where I would put this thing! I also hesistate to go the 1/4 scale route (as opposed to the 1/6 scale Vader) because if I do I'm sure I will want my next purchase(s) to be in the same scale. The PF Boba Fett does look pretty cool though...

hmmm.. not liking the HT. that may change if we see it on-hand.. but as of now, SS vader still dominates IMHO. :)

If we get all the lightup features on this PF, this could be a very special piece, cannot wait to add him
Already confirmed on the other board by SSAlex:
Base, chest, belt and light saber are all the light features expected for Vader.

I'll wait to see in-hand pics of the SS Vader before calling it the better version.

This is probably the ONLY thing I like better about the HT Vader. I would LOVE a 1/4 scale Vader in something like an Art FX pose (standing with hands on belt), or pointing like the "Don't fail me again, Admiral" scene. Don't get me wrong, I love Vader with a lit lightsaber, but everybody else does it. That's one of the main reasons why I still love -& have in a very prominent location to this day - my Attakus v1 Darth Vader. Vader is badass & a threat, even without his lightsaber.
The fact that the HT Vader is the ROTS Vader... that's the killer for me. My fingers & toes are crossed that HT will release a 1/4 scale Vader from the OT (ESB preferred). I'd also hope, that when they do release it, it'll come with a Han Solo blaster as one of the accessories. Don't let me down Hot Toys!

A crappy low res pic versus a pro shot pic. Gotcha.

yea which is fantastic news, with all these features this piece is going to be very special for all collectors, which is more value for money

Obvious difference in paint job quality there. He also needs a gloss coat.

At Celebration both SSC and Hot Toys had their 1:4 Vaders on display. I admit, HT's ROTS Vader was far more impressive in person...

Really, I thought the HT Vader looked awful at Celebration... in fairness it was an early WIP, but had a huge noggin' and was very unrefined. I don't love the Sideshow PF, but it certainly looked better at Celebration.

Yeah.. Not really fair and a somewhat dishonest depiction... There are plenty of examples to make the point of Production vs piece we actually get... But this is a bit extreme due to the quality between the two pics.. lets compare the pics that centurion used to another in hand shot that was done better with much better lighting.

Now I am not saying there are no differences but not as jarring as originally depicted.

Not sure where you got that pic on the right but the brows on most look considerably ****tier than that. Looks like the one on the left in fact ;p
