Re: DC's "Suicide Squad" (August 5th, 2016)

I do like Leto's take in how violent, twisted and unpredictable his Joker is. He even looks more menacing and evil than any other we've seen on screen so far (not talking about the tats and pimp clothes). But the one thing that I'm having a hard time digesting is the voice. That may change after a couple viewings, but right now it sounds like a stereotypical 40's gangster with a splash of Ledger. "Yeaaa, you'll never get me Batsy, seee. Yeaa"

Re: DC's "Suicide Squad" (August 5th, 2016)

Liked it or nah?

I liked Will Smith...and as a Will Smith movie about him fighting a bunch of cgi...stuff, it's fine. I can accept it for what it is.

As a DC film about DC characters, it doesn't work for me.

Basically, as a DC film that's building a larger world, I think it sucks.

I like Smith enough not to hate the film and to watch it again when it comes out on DVD.

The action was very disappointing. Not because of the lack of...but because of how it was shot. Nothing memorable that shows why this team is so valuable and great, except for Smith's skills and Diablo's powers. And even that wasn't great to look at.

The rest of the cast is just sort of there...because they have to...I guess. Amanda Waller is probably the second best character, but she's not very likable.Maybe she's not supposed to.

Seeing this in a few days, and besides the horrible reviews, I've been trying to remain optimistic about this one. The god-awful hip-hop soundtrack alone might ruin it for me though.

I love the movie but I agree there are some things that are a little off. I've seen it 3 times and on the 3rd time I didn't even notice them anymore, I just enjoyed it for what it is. And the ending boss battle I didn't like the first time but on the 3rd time I loved it. I like the slow-mo in it and the score.

Three times? Jesus, man.

Re: DC's "Suicide Squad" (August 5th, 2016)

Pretty crazy how everyone loved the casting of this movie except for Big Willy and turns out he's the best thing about the movie :lol

I'll be seeing this in an hour, this is reminding me a lot like the Fantastic Four situation but on a much lower scale.

I'll be seeing at least 3 times, this is the DC U movie I've been waiting for, and am absolutely digging. what a fun movie.

Re: DC's "Suicide Squad" (August 5th, 2016)

People may not agree but I couldn't help but feel a similarity between these two:

For me, it's stuff like that smile and that scene that makes me like Leto's Joker. That and the scenes where he attacks with his crew are pretty viscous. We definitely never saw that kind of brutality from a pack of Joker's henchmen before.

Re: DC's "Suicide Squad" (August 5th, 2016)

Though not like a reboot really, that's how the original comics worked. Just rotating guys in and out.

Yeah, I know. I was just saying that the subject matter is the perfect model for what to do if this movie sucks. Really, the only thing you need to worry about is "do we have a great Waller," and Viola Davis knocked it out of the park, so, they have everything they need, right there, to try again.

Nicholson and his men wrecked the restaurant / art gallery and released gas to kill everyone. They also gassed the whole city- I guess that was pretty bad.

I did like Leto but he was very underwhelming. I felt he might have been trying too hard and wasn't always sure what to do to be different and 'and there'.

Re: DC's "Suicide Squad" (August 5th, 2016)

And Leto...all his scenes are in the trailers. There isn't much of a performance, just a bunch of short clips that amount to nothing...basically what you see in the trailers.

Sometimes it felt like he was trying very hard, but there are little moments like whe he asked a guy to kiss his hand...or a ring that worked for me.

His whole purpose is to be there kissing Harley...that's it. Sometimes he growls like a cat..and when he's not doing that, he laughs using the same repetitive laugh from the trailers.

This Joker likes...or loves Harley, "I do anything for you"...so yeah, it's a different version.

There isn't enough of Leto for me to like or dislike. I see potential....maybe with a good script. I won't be getting the Letoker doll :(

Re: DC's "Suicide Squad" (August 5th, 2016)

Are you sure?

This whole scene was terrible. Her acting was abysmal - the over dubbed voice was cringy and her weird attempt to dance? make shapes? Not a clue what that was about.

She's a witch, what you expect her to act and look like? She look like the typical dirty witch too. The last scene she got that omnipresence voice about her like she's an old goddess that she is since she's basically immortal.

And she's bad-ass too. She battled one-on-one of 'em successfully. She just got tricked a little by Harley. She is exotic with her old age. You can't expect someone who's ancient to act and behave like a modern criminal. In essence, she is the opposite of Harley.
