Eh...didn't you say a few weeks ago that Mel Gibson was one of the few guys in Hollywood that would never make these kinds of films because of his artistic integrity? :lol

No, what I said is that actors struggle with the notion of selling out and agreeing to multiple picture deals when they don't really think the material is great. That's why Mel turned down Branagh's Thor.

As a director it's a whole different deal. You can actually make something transcendent in a genre where formula is paramount (specially now with the MCU). Edgar Wright, Darren Aronofsky, Ang Lee, Guillermo Del Toro...great auteurs who were drawn to the genre because it offered an opportunity to take it further. Nolan of course is the only one that really managed to go the distance with TDK.

Mel as a director could absolutely take it further.

Oh why oh why wasn't there a fappening back in the 80's/90's...

And what's wrong with Coppola's Dracula? It's a great movie. Keanu and Wynona notwithstanding...
