I don't think the Apes in the original were meant to look so evolved. In the novel, they're just apes with an advanced society. It'd be neat to see them go that route instead of just rehashing what we've seen in the previous franchises, no matter how good the makeup was in the original and Burton's.

Oh, and Gary Oldman being in this has finally gotten me kind of excited.

Yeah, not too visually obvious with the humanistic traits just yet.

An evolved 'society' perhaps.. but fancy duds & other blatant things just tarnish the premise I feel..
 
Synopsis tidbit from Fox

A growing nation of genetically evolved apes led by Caesar is threatened by a band of human survivors of the devastating virus unleashed a decade earlier. They reach a fragile peace, but it proves short-lived, as both sides are brought to the brink of a war that will determine who will emerge as Earth’s dominant species.
 
I am glad the story will jump start in the future with the apes being in control in large numbers.
