Where did the Luthor concept sketch come from?

Man, I was hoping to not have him with the mech armor. Luthors essence is his genius maniacal mind. the suit doesnt define him and should therefore not be part of the PF.

Yes, the armor would make him look more flashy. But collectors like me who want the character representation to be in a form that defines their very essence may prefer an old school Luthor.

Luthor is the epitome of "the pen is mightier than the sword" and they have him in a mech suit for the one and only pf.

The 50's-70's Evil Super villain genius bent on world domination?

The 80's-90's Evil Business Man?

The character has been a lot of different things over the years. I doubt they can make everyone who's ever read a Superman comic happy.

Bats EX PF went up as TBD at the time of PO as well. It sold out about 4 days later and a WL opened up. Now even the WL is closed on the Bats EX. I'm not sure how the REG Bats PF went up. I only order EXs. However, both Bats PFs did have an ES announced in the SSC newsletter well after they went up for PO. The REG hasn't sold out because they made too many of them. 7500 statue is a hell of a lot of pieces to move. It seems they went overboard.

I think that SSC wants to push just as many Supes PFs as they did Batmans. I honesty think he isn't selling as well as Batman and that's why he's still available. If his final numbers are bigger than Batmans then SSC will be flooding the market with this piece. If the ES is equal to or less than Bats, obviously Bats is just more popular than Superman. His EX sold out in 4 days. We will know a lot more when the final ES is revealed on the Supes PF. Regardless, it's a phenomenal looking statue.

Well said. Supes statues never sell as well as Bats although they still sell well. And I agree: they overkilled the ES on Batman regardless of the amazing sculpt.

The mythos of Superman vs Lex Luthor is legendary. It is the ultimate showdown between two complete oppositional arcytypes: Brain vs Braun. Superman, not very intellectual but all powerful. Lex, weak yet complete genius. When an unstoppable force meets an immovable object. Lex' mech armor doesn't fit into that picture.

What makes Lex Luthor appealing is that he doesn't need a suit. Because he doesn't need to fight Superman. Because he's brilliant.

Sketches mean very little. I'm sure they've drawn concepts for many more DC characters. That's no indication their production is near or even if they'll be produced.

Ya know what is funny. I hav never been that guy who has harped on a piece like this. If I don't like something I will comment on it a few times and then be on my way. I think with this piece it's just that SSC is sooooooo close to having such a great major bad *** looking superman with the EX head that I hate to se them mess it up. I don't hate the EX head. I love everything about it. Except for those goofy looking eyes. So close Sideshow...So close.

I also like to display my statues on near eye level shelves. Superman should be up high. But with his reg head looking up it will be very hard to see the great detail of the Reg sculpt face. The EX head is perfect for higher display.

Even if I get this EX head and it looks better in person it will still be something that never gets displayed. I can't think of a single time in the comics that Superman had his eyes ripped out and flames came bursting threw the sockets.

Well there is some truth to what you said. I have been the most vocal about the EX head and it really is not like me to do that.

But what you wrote did not bother me at all. As I said there is truth behind what you said and I am OK with that

No worries ... It doesn't REALLY bother me if you want to try to get the Ex changed. What was bothering me are sme of the guys here who seem to think that just because they disagree with an opinion and agree with another it is okay to hammer on someone ... That pissed me off a bit so I took a couple of days off before I said something that would get me banned...lol. Though it was nice you guys talked about me for 2 out of 10 pages....lol.
