why wouldn't they have displayed the ex when it was the one piece that generated the most uncertainty and worry? You would think it would be the first thing they would allow fan pictures of, doesn't make any sense at all if they actually give a crap about customer satisfaction

probably because they aren't sure how the fans will react. If they show it now and fans hate it there will be a lot of complaining and possibly cancellations. If they wait until fans get it in hand, there will still be the complaining, but how many are going to go through the trouble of returning?

Hide the EX head! So not to scare the children!

I really hate to see this seemingly down grade to both the Superman and Batman PF. It's been talked about already on the Batman thread how his chest symbol went from a really cool raised piece that indented into the pecs to what now looks like just printed on the fabric... well supes doesn't look printed but it does look flat and stuck on. If you go and look at the "S" on SS website the "S" creases down the middle and scoops down into the abs. From these pics it looks like a flat piece of cardboard pasted on his chest.

The red trunks look too puffy and the belt looks really cheap! I do still like the boots

I'm gonna bet that this is not the proto either. I agree dude, his trunks look way better a year ago over what they look like now. Looks like SS used a different material making his trunks to appear thicker. All the red looks way more vibrant too, in comparison to last year's photo (might be the cameras that were used). One more thing I did notice, that's very miniscule, is that the base he's standing on is different as well. In the old photo, you can clearly see two chunks of the Fortress coming up between both of his feet. In the new pic, they're not there at all. Not as much as a big deal as his trunks seem to be.

I think if this is a production piece he looks pretty great. Have you seen some of the crappy Superman statues there are out there...? Like, really guys? What is so bad about him? Last year his trunks were too baggy. Sideshow fixed them here. His crest looked better last year, yes, but this is ONE PHOTO. Can we not judge by one photo...? Do I wish they didn't make 7500 of him? Yes. Do I think he looks cheap? No. They improved the headsculpt a lot. They improved his trunks and made them more snug. They improved his base. Hopefully, if we're lucky, they will improve his terrible Ex portrait. As for the rest of him, I think he looks great! Take a look again, this is a darn fine Superman statue. Keep that in mind. One of the nicest I've seen anyway. And if you can't stand the sight of him when you get him in hand, return him to Sideshow and someone else will be glad to own him. I think SS should slow down on their ES in DC definitely but aside from that they are doing a fine job. Let's get some other photos and vids up so people calm down. He looks great. Just IMHO of course.

BTW if you want to see something that Sideshow actually DID screw up on, look at the new Destro 1/6. Looks nothing like the guy's outfit I remember in the 80's and that is something they should fix stat. Supes, however, looks good.

Overall I think he looks great. However, the trunks from last year were better IMO.

If you look at the photos on the SSC website the symbol is lopsided and peeling off of his chest on his left hand side.

As for this being a production piece... I doubt it... With all of the delays they have had with different pieces this year... They would have to be ahead of schedule to get a production piece out 6 months ahead of the original release date.

It's not the same, definitely different. Look at the proto how the symbol is smooth and flush around the edges. On this piece, the symbol has a slight lip all around the outside, it also is missing the pectoral contours(not a big deal) that the proto had, as mentioned by others. I kindof liked the the flush edging of the prototype, but overall I still think this is an amazing piece, i just really wanted to see some pics of the ex too. Still buying, still love it.

There was a rumor a while back that the Ex was to be tweaked or changed which is great news. Aside from that, his PF looks great imo. I will be thrilled if they fix that terrible Ex. The Reg portrait looks awesome.

I like the changes they made. They toned down the wild cape too which was my only complaint with the PF when they sneaked this last year. It looks a lot better. This piece is boss.

I really hope thats what SS are doing. I'm sure any changes they make to the Ex head would be better then worm eyes
