The sculpt of Superman is perfect, albeit with a generic pose and a lackluster base. The head sculpt shown at the SDCC is perfect and the version I'm going to order. However, there are a few other head sculpts that could be interesting:

SSC could release those with a red base filled with red kryptonite. :D

That pic is ridiculous. No way the average woman could break steel scissors trying to cut ANYTHING, let alone Superman's hair. The scissors would have the edges gouged before they would break.

The Batman PF is way cooler. The base and the body sculpt are far superior. I hope the base lights-up because that would at least give it a reason for looking so bad. Hopefully they add some detail.

The Superman part of the Superman PF is PERFECT. The Batman part of the Batman PF is very good, but not as good as Superman.

Both bases leave a lot to be desired, both are very unoriginal. There are already a half dozen or so statues with Batman on a gargoyle. I'm not a fan of the crystalline/ice Fortress of Solitude and that kind of base was done very recently.

I really wouldn't want light up eyes on him. A red paint app for the eyes on the COH would be fine (I think I read that's what we're getting) but I think that light up eyes are gimmicky and more like what a toy should have, plus there is a risk of it breaking overtime. This is a classic statue and a grail and I don't think SS should mess with their already-perfect PF design for him. He looks timeless and iconic and they got the design right the first time. The simplicity of the base design has really grown on me. I don't think Superman needs any cheesy gimmicks -- he's Superman. I know that this and Batman are two PFs I would never part with and they should leave them just the way they are IMO! :)

I'm not a big fan of the cloth costumes. The Batman PF is the first one that I think looks really good. For the first time I'm questioning myself about whether or not I'd rather have a fully sculpted version. The Superman PF is not that bad, but I'd definenately rather have a fully sculpted version. I'll order the Superman PF because over all I think it's the best 1/4 scale of him I've seen so far. I do wish his body was a little more define: I shouldn't be in better shape than Superman.:lol

See, and I now prefer mixed media. I don't know if you own any PFs yet but you'll really start to like mixed media over time. I would never go back to fully painted statues now. On a mixed media piece there is less of a chance for sloppy paint work and the cloth holds up very well over the years. I have some PFs that are almost ten years old and they look brand new. As long as you keep them in a cabinet away from dust and sun the fabric will keep for a long time. I don't like when I see paint strokes on a statue that should have a flawless paint app, drives me bonkers. :lol That's why I prefer mixed media and Supes is looking just how I was hoping he would. As for the bod, Batman is looking a bit hefty but it looks good and Supes to me looks pretty lean IMO but I see what you mean. :)

See, I was, at first a skeptic as well. I really was not digging the statue as a whole and was all gun ho about this COH. Everyday I would get up and brush my teeth and take a look at the SDCC photos and vids the more this became the most iconic version of Sups you could own. I don't even care about the COH anymore. He's been sculpted to be a lean mean fighting machine. Take some more time and give this version a chance. I did, and now I think he is the perfect compliment to Batman.:yess: Don't make a liar outta me Sideshow. I sound like a damn used car salesman!

rotflmao that is post of the year =! I don't care if it was intentional or not, that cracked me up.:clap:rotfl

Thanks! It was intended to be funny. But really, if ANY part of the scissors is going to break, it is going to be the pin that the two blades pivot on. That will break first. The blades break? Who the heck do they think they're kidding??? Really? The blades? Maybe if they were made of ceramic or something and there were flaws. Scissors simply can't do that. It is far easier to believe that Superman could actually exist than it is to believe that a scissors could could break in THAT manner. I mean, seriously....:rotfl

Ugh, this pic really confirms that I need to see another portrait - it's just too Alex Ross-ish for my liking (and it's a quality sculpt - the style is what I don't like).

To me, he looks more like "the man who is worn out from trying to sell one more life insurance policy to meet his annual quota to support the second kid going to college" than "the man of steel".

To each their own but I think this PF design is classic and iconic and I wouldn't change a thing on it. The simplicity in the design is brilliant and Superman looks timeless. As I said before, he's Superman NOT Superboy. He doesn't need gimmicks like light up eyes or a light up base. Those things are for toys. This is a grail piece and it's perfect the way it is IMO and as people have stated numerous times, there will be a COH of an alternate version of Supes so not to worry. :wave

While I respect you have a different taste I have to disagree. This looks like classic Superman to me.

And if we get a paint app like that on the production piece

LOL yes that's actually something we NEED to worry about. But I'm sure SS will get the QC for this piece right. Can't wait for this PF. One of the best I have seen IMO. Here's hoping it turns out as good as or better than the proto.

Why does people keep saying superman not super boy? Obvious we don't want a 10 year old boy statue. I just want a comic book style superman from jim lee, or any other similar artists. Alex Ross is great for the fans that like his style. But for the fans that prefer another style I hope the second head will be the one. So SS please make both version heads, this will make us one big happy family. No matter what they do I'm still buying this statue.

If the EX were to be a Jim Lee looking head, I'd probably stick with the regular unless it really wowed me in 3D. I really don't like Jim Lee's work tbh
