I hate when they get to far away from the original story line though. I definitely don't want them to continue with Returns, but starting over would be great.

You know.... there is something comforting... even though the story has been told many times about the origins. They NEED to make sure he represents the Man of Steel the way he should be. Don't try and make him something he isn't because they want to be different. That will NEVER work.

they don't have to start from the very beginning, they can do that through flash back, or 15 minute opener. Keep the character true to its origins and tell a new story if you want.

Anyone here recommend any good superman graphic novels? I'd like to read a couple. I can't say im fan of superman unlike i am with Batman. But the trailer did a great job of humanizing him, I mean every kid, even me when i was little did that pose with a read cape or towel!

The books Josh mentioned are a great read. Definitley give them a read.

I just want a fresh new take on the man of steel, with a new story. The origin should still be the same, Son of Krypton, exploding planet, red son, but show me something a little new too.
Batman did something like that, they kept the one major motivator for Bruce, the murder of his parents. Then Nolan, put his own spin on the character using actual batman books but in his own vision.

After watching that trailer I would read Superman: Earth One. It came out last year and was part of DC's "reimagined beginnings" of all their man characters. Might give you an idea of how the could mix up his origin without "changing" it.
