Maybe it was just a bad batch (( shrug )) or maybe in a few years all our Supermans will look like that :panic:

I remember reading somewhere one of the peeps with leaning issues said his leaning was actually caused by the pads on the bottom of the statue. One of the rubber pads was bad. He replaced it and said everything looked good after that. I'm not saying it was this individual but some of these could be a simple enough fix. Either way, not many peeps have reported leaning issues with this piece. We certainly would have heard about it if it was a reoccurring problem.

Most people who've said it came back later saying it was just the pads underneath.
Truth. I can't believe how some people get so worked up about alleged issues when the truth is found on the thread if you look hard enough. My Supes stands erect at all times. Pun intended.

There was someone on statue forum recently who had already fixed the pads but his was still leaning. I'm sure the pads contribute to the problem, but there is probably still a leaning issue on a some pieces.

Yeah, the pic that Dan posted is from me and my Superman PF is definitely leaning. But it is due to the pad beneath the base on the cape side. The pad on that side is worn down and compressed by the weight of the cape, causing the left front side of the base to be raised.

A thorough inspection of my piece revealed no warping of the metal rod, peg or the knee area. Both feet sit flush on to the base without any gaps from the weight of the cape. I put in new felt padding around the compressed pad to stabilize the base with all the pads making contact with the pedestal. So it definitely looks more upright. But I think using the thicker, clear vinyl pads will straighten it out even more since it is a lot more durable and doesn't give like the felt pads that I'm using. But we are talking about fractions of a millimetre here. It must be the humid and muggy air here in Singapore. :wink1:

And there it is! Thanks for the explanation bicoid. This is a PHENOMENAL statue and no one should be worried about picking it up. IMO, it's the very best Supes statue you can add to any collection.

No problem guys. In my case, it was the pad wearing down. Just use some rigid thick vinyl pads like the ones for glass table tops and reinforce the cape side and you should be good. Simple, majestic, and hopeful, Sideshow really nailed Superman to a tee didn't they? I have nothing but love for this piece and I can't recommend picking him up strongly enough!

:exactly::goodpost: I'd be far more worried about factory workers in China forgetting to put a metal rod in Spiderman PFs arm than Superman PF ever leaning. My Supes leaned MICROSCOPICALLY, but it was the pads getting crushed because of the weight, not because of the cape. When you put something firm under the pads, the problem is solved.

Don't worry about Dan guys, he doesn't feel right unless he's bashing Sideshow in some thread or another.

:lol true..... but I'm mostly just trying to annoy Ink like he annoys us in the XM threads :)

On a positive note I'm looking forward to getting my Batgirl PF in 5 days :yess:

I do have the Superman PF so I think I'm allowed to say it's a bit of a concern in the long run given the weight of the cape.

You could always put a cloth cape on him, I did, but more for space saving than because I was worried about weight. As for Batgirl, I can't wait for her. She looks awesome so far.

With Batgirl I was really impressed with the production pictures... so I think that one is going to be a home run.... As for supes I've thought about a cloth cape, I've seen some members that have done an impressive job on making them...

I just got a waitlist conversion for this, submitted on May 29. Anyone else get one? I can't help but feel they will get more of these in, and that they just sold out of their current stock. I remember a few months ago it was on preorder with them suppose to ship out late in the summer. Of course I have no idea how their inventory system works.

Are you talking about Superman, cause it's sold out, no more waitlist.

Yeah, the regular. If you can't even go on the waitlist anymore then I guess it truly is sold out. But I believe things have gone to sold out and then back to waitlist before.

I hope you're right cause i waited too long on this bad boy and missed out. I much rather get something like this from SSC than go to the secondary market and possibly get somebody's lemon.

That may be true with some sellers on eBay, but you should be able to get a good one from the sale section here.
