Re: DC Collectibles doing Batman The Animated Series figures!!!!!

We need to see some Batman Beyond characters and Superman The Animated Series figures as well.

I would also love Justice League Animated figures too.

Re: DC Collectibles doing Batman The Animated Series figures!!!!!

I agree with you guys, would be great to see TNBA characters in TAS form in the next volume. My perfect Vol. 6 would be BTAS Poison Ivy, Two Face, Freeze/Scarecrow and TNBA Clayface!

Re: DC Collectibles doing Batman The Animated Series figures!!!!!

I'm actually surprised there were no females in wave 5. Plenty to choose from still aswell. I'm looking forward to seeing wave 6 since it will be BTAS heavy, but I think we'll have a good wait for that yet.

For me, the BTAS line-up wouldn't be complete without 11 more core characters: Poison Ivy, Mr Freeze, Clayface, Two Face, Killer Croc, Ventriloquist & Scarface, Bane, Ras, Talia, Scarecrow & Batgirl. They HAVE to do those. Anyone else after that is a (very welcome & happy) bonus.

Re: DC Collectibles doing Batman The Animated Series figures!!!!!

Thrilled for all you guys that are loving this line. Today's reveals must have been like Christmas! Batmobile?? Phantasm? Amazing stuff.

But I just gotta throw this out there....Nightwing's legs. Yeah, the thin angled lines are Timm's style, but those legs look so thin to the point of parody. They're gonna snap if you even LOOK at them. I guess I never cared for the TNBA Nightwing design in the first place. Had such potential, but it was really boring. And the mullet? I remember being underwhelmed even with the Kenner figure.

Still...he's an important character so no collection is complete without him.

Also, Bane has some crazy under-moob action going on.

Re: DC Collectibles doing Batman The Animated Series figures!!!!!

Not DC Collectibles.... And I really don't get the "jumbo" thing usually... But I'll take that Batman.

Re: DC Collectibles doing Batman The Animated Series figures!!!!!

How much do those giant figures usually run for?

Re: DC Collectibles doing Batman The Animated Series figures!!!!!

Eh, that's annoying and in bad taste in my opinion.

They just keeping reaching and aping everything with this jumbo crap. I can see a couple of vintage Star Wars figures, but going to a 1993 line and reproducing those? I don't really get it.

I think the Star Wars usually go around $75?

I will only do Batman and MAYBE Robin on BTAS. If they do Dark Knight Collection though.... I am in trouble.

Not trying to argue here DiFab, as I typically don't "get it" either.... But what do you mean by it being in bad taste?

I just think it would be sweet to have a big Kenner Batman Animated figure on my shelf... which I guess is how others feel about the various properties they did before this.

I dunno, it just feels like they're milking something that doesn't really need to be done. A few years back, I actually bought the Jumbo Boba Fett and Stormtrooper out of nostalgia and they were alright I guess. I still think the original, smaller versions were sharper in detail. Then when they did a whole line of them, it just started to feel cheap and gimmicky to me, you know? Like they're cheapening the original line with a bunch of excessive gimmicks (big Wampa!) that take away from how you originally perceived the figures as a kid. I don't mean cheapen secondary value either, just the idea of going back to successful lines and blowing them up into this hollow PVC thing with seam lines and flaws you didn't even see as a kid. They weren't made to be 12", they were made to be 4" and 5". It's sort of like those weird bootlegs that are on ebay where they've obviously duplicated the tool of a vintage figure and enlarged it.

Don't get me wrong, Combat Belt Batman is one of my favorite Batman figures, if not my favorite, but I don't really see the point of blowing up that figure. The 5" version is that icon. The line had it's time and we all remember that time fondly. None of them are out of reach if people would like to buy them again. I don't think I need a blown up version to remind me of that. I mean is it to celebrate BTAS and the Kenner line? Isn't that what DCD is sort of doing that with these modern, super articulated figures? Hell, Gentle Giant is sculpting some of those themselves?

Plus, I think it's only a matter of time before Gentle Giant and/or Funko take the next step of actually reproducing the originals in their original scale. These feel like a precursor to that.

Re: DC Collectibles doing Batman The Animated Series figures!!!!!

If they were the same scale as the originals, I could see the point, but a 12 inch version? I don't know. Those kener designs and the super powers line they're making look better in a smaller scale. As a 1/6 scale figure, they look awkward, imo.

I got ya. And I mirror much of the same when it comes to all the other jumbo stuff so far.

I actually have no idea why that Batman seems so cool to me. I definitely wouldn't ever collect a full line like this... but I am drawn to that Batman.

Re: DC Collectibles doing Batman The Animated Series figures!!!!!

Yeah, and also, don't think I'm not tempted (especially if they did Crime Attack). :lol

I just don't get the point. Gentle Giant's blown up versions remind me of pastel, Easter candy or something. Like you could unwrap their Bespin Luke and it'd be some cheap dollar store candy. To me, that reduces how I feel about the idea in general.

Also, I'm 100% certain that the ones in those pics are not actually the Jumbo versions. That is a Kenner 5" Combat Belt Batman and Robin in that advertisement. It wouldn't surprise me if Gentle Giant ripped those off google images.

Re: DC Collectibles doing Batman The Animated Series figures!!!!!

I wonder what kind of accessories are included? I haven't seen that film in a long time. Maybe she'll come with a female head sculpt.

Exploding gas balls.

The body looks to be on-model to the "pre-reveal" Phantasm, so it would probably look odd with a female head popped on there. Unlike the old Kenner figure, which really only looked good with the mask off. :)

Oh- Would be neat if it came with an interchangeable half-melted away claw hand for when Joker hit it with acid! I know she was unmasked at that point... but would still be cool.
