Re: DC Collectibles doing Batman The Animated Series figures!!!!!

I like that they're going to alternate between the two. Personally, though, I'd love to see some box sets. Imagine an SDCC Exclusive Mask of The Phantasm set with Battle Damaged Batman, Joker with his Jet Pack, and a Phantasm with alternate head, or, maybe, a limited edition "Christmas with the Joker" set with Joker (along with a switch out "laughy" hand and static Summer, Gordon, and Bullock figures?

Why do people like the SDCC exclusive stuff so much? You can only get it if you go there, which most people can't , or unless you pay a ridiculous price on ebay. The whole SDCC exclusive thing is a scam, and the worst thing to ever happened to collectors.

Re: DC Collectibles doing Batman The Animated Series figures!!!!!

Everybody says Two-Face, but am I the only one who wants a Harvey Dent from TAS out of this line? He was pretty integral to the arc of Bruce Wayne on the show.

Me too! Loved the episode where Ivy tries to kill him for his part in building the prison (man this was deep for an animated show). Hoping we see some guys in suits in this line, we don't get enough alter egos and civilians

It's not so much that it's what I want, so much as it seemed like the most believable sense that something like that would happen. Of course, after today's solicitations, perhaps DC is a bit more open to box sets.

Re: DC Collectibles doing Batman The Animated Series figures!!!!!

To be fair, I always liked the Tim Drake Robin; he seemed more interesting than Grayson's on that show. On a different note, DC Collectibles did their solicitations today, and they're for products hitting in July, so, if that's any indication, we'll see Two-Face and Freeze in May (along with official solicits for Batman and Catwoman).

Yeah, I like Tim Drake too. That's good news. Looks like they are taking these lines seriously then.

Re: DC Collectibles doing Batman The Animated Series figures!!!!!

Yeah from both a character and design standpoint, TNBA Robin is probably one I wouldn't be too upset at having to fudge into my collection if they didn't make a BTAS one

Joker and Freeze on the other hand ...

Re: DC Collectibles doing Batman The Animated Series figures!!!!!

I don't think Freeze's design was as bad as Joker's , but I do think it was inferior. I remember Timm saying that it was more streamlined, and that the original was too bulky, like a 50's sci-Fi space suit, and he was saying that like it was a bad thing. That design works so well because it fits with that psuedo-retro feel of the show. The bulk of the suit just fits with that world.

:goodpost: :exactly: Catwoman was terrible with the blue face and the all black costume. Maybe worse than the joker? It looks like the catwoman figure comes with the whip, so that's good news. I'm not expecting batman to come with any accessories though. So we might see a preview of wave 2 at SDCC?

Re: DC Collectibles doing Batman The Animated Series figures!!!!!

Exactly. Like the police blimps they had, it's a steampunk style aesthetic that I think fit the show really well

Yeah I'd have liked a little Isis too but it's hardly a necessity, the whips a good choice

Re: DC Collectibles doing Batman The Animated Series figures!!!!!

I'd be pissed if they made TNBA Robin and Nightwing and not the original BTAS Grayson Robin. BTAS Robin is one of the best designs in my opinion. If I could only have two BTAS figures, it'd be Batman and Robin.

I hope it doesn't come down to this TNBA = simpler = better mentality. The BTAS figures being more detailed, "heavier" and more colorful is what makes them stand out more I think. I feel every redesign, save Penguin and Harley Quinn, are inferior to the classic ones. TNBA is far too drab for my tastes. Just look at the differences between both Batman variations, or Robin, or Joker, and especially Riddler. They're just so basic and barebones. The female figures in particular seem like they were made much smaller, almost like kids instead of that retro/pin up look the BTAS ones had going on.

Regarding Wave 2, what Jim Fletcher says about the line in this video has me really excited.

Go to about the 7:00 mark, maybe a little later.

As daft as it may seem, I also feel like I'm getting a bit more value with the BTAS stuff due to the extra detail and paint apps

The "we've already planned out lots of waves" line? I'm so happy about that, makes me think it's gonna be like the arkham lines for character variety which is brilliant

Re: DC Collectibles doing Batman The Animated Series figures!!!!!

I will absolutely lose it the day we see a 92 Batman.

Re: DC Collectibles doing Batman The Animated Series figures!!!!!

Okay, good. So all of them (all parties willing of course).

If this were Mattel, they'd say some crap like "support the line and you'll see more". That product manager says right there that when they come back, they'll have whole shelves of the line up. I love the "choose between which version you like" comment. That's exactly how it should be.

DC Collectibles is killing it this year. This is the first time I've been this jazzed for a 6" series in years. I predict that, when he said "next time," he meant SDCC. So, I'd guess we see Face and Freeze in a couple of months and series 2 at the con.
